Team I'd like to see for the first WC qualifier.

(4-5-1)
GK. Shay Given
RB. Stephen Kelly
CB. Richard Dunne
CB. Sean St. Ledger
LB. anyone but Ward (Ciaran Clark maybe?)
RM. Keith Fahey
CM. Darron Gibson
CM. Keith Andrews
CM. James McCarthy
LM. James McLean
ST. Shane Long
Would agree that 4-5-1 is the way to go.There is a temptation to throw the baby out with the bathwater after the past 3 games but 1st qualifier is only 3/4 months away. Given has made a few mistakes over the last 12 months but should be No1 if he doesn't retire.

Would like to see Shane Duffy given a chance with St Ledger at right back.Would play Walters at RM instead of Fahey.

Ireland are at the stage they were after getting outplayed by Holland in 1995 with a lot of the team near the end. It took a few years until we were competitive again and it may be the same story this time.

Roy would probably start a war with some country at a press conference somewhere.

Roy always set high standards for himself and others which was a good thing when he had good players around him but he seems to struggle to deal with players who are not as good. He had a good start with Sunderland but has done nothing over the last few seasons.

Shock result tonight. Looking more and more like a Spain v Germany final. Some poor enough teams left including England. France and maybe the Dutch if they can squeeze through and improve may have an outside chance.

Lot of hype about England after last night but they should have been more encouraged by the France game when they at least looked compact and hard to break down. Last night was back to the end to end haphazard defending which makes England entertaining to watch but ultimately destined to fail. Apart from the great cross for the goal thought Gerrard was poor last night, slow to react to things and kind of lost in his position as a defensive midfielder. Don't think he is ever going to be the player he was before.

For conspiracy theorists

1) Draw for Germany puts Holland out. win for Germany gives Holland a chance. Would it suit Germany to draw and still win the group?

2) Amazingly a 2-2 draw between Spain and Croatia puts Italy out regardless of their result (2004 all over again).

'Arry gone.
Strange that a manager finishes 4th and is gone the next year. If Drogba hadn't scored v Bayern would he still be there or was it purely about money?

Moyes to Spurs seems to be done deal according to Twitter which doesn't seem to be a popular move among Spurs fans. Hope he stays with Everton.

24 Teams in Euro 2016. 6 groups of 4. Rather than have 6 group winners, 6 Runner Up plus 4 best third placed teams proceed to Last 16 would it not be better if the best 4 Group Winners get to the Quarter Finals with the Other 2 group Winners and 6 second placed teams playing off to join them?

In no tournament should you be able to finish 3rd in a group of 4 and proceed to the latter stages!
This was the case in Italia 90.

As if rumours around Fellaini and Baines leaving aren't bad enough :(

Twitter suggesting compensation being discussed with Everton. If true Moyes gave us 10 great years compared to the shambles we were under Walter Smith. Would like to see Martinez given a chance, he is used to working with a small budget whcih would be the case at Everton.

Trap will probably change the team for the Spain game, Cox for Doyle ::)

He should but won't play 5 in midfield Gibson in and Long up front on his own. Park the bus and look to hit on the break with McClean coming on for the last half hour.

Decision to bring on Kingham and launch balls into him was the wrong one. Tyrone's defence was in trouble every time we wemt forward up to that point.

Encouraging display all round, pity Aaron Kernan hadn't stayed on as he may have added a bit of composure in the last 5 minutes. Tyrone were just that bit cuter at winning frees and turning over ball when they needed to.

Having saw how much damage we did, I think Tyrone have a lot of work to do if they want to deal with Cork or Dublin come August.

Denmarks performance today gives us great hope for tomorrow night. No great stars (what age is Rommedahl 50?) but a great work ethic, doing the simple things well and everyone knowing thier role and a bit of luck thrown in.

Lot of talk of Modric, he is a good player all right but Jelavic is the real danger, was on fire for Everton the last few months and a real danger in and around the box.

Fancy Cork on Sunday, very firm strong looking back line, bolstered by the continued availability of Eoin Cadogan. Will be up against it versus a strong Kerry forward line however. Cork should dominate at midfield with the re-introduction of Aidan Walsh to this area. Could potentially see Aidan going back to full forward, fintan Goold to midfield and perhaps the introduction of Daniel Goulding, is he still lacking fitness? Although Colm O'Neill has more than stood up to the plate so far, I feel that Goulding is always deserving of a place on this Cork team. If Cork progress I would like to the see them line up as follows from Numbers 8 to 15. 8. Pearse O'Neill 9. Aidan Walsh 10. Paul Kerrigan 11. Fintan Goold 12. Paddy Kelly 13. Dan Goulding 14. Colm O'Neill 15. Donnacha O'Connor.
That forward line on paper is as good as any team in the country but even the year Cork won the AI never really clicked for a full 70 minutes. Cork have a lot of talented forwards capable of winning their own ball and scoring from distance but there is not the cohesion between them that other top teams have had over the years.Maybe this is down to the slow build up play.

I wouldn't be expecting any last minute changes tbh, name your team & get on with it. Gamesmanship with Harte is pointless, only  going to be one winner.
Player for player you wouldn't say Tyrone are miles better than Armagh but if the game is in the melting pot (whatever that is) with 15 mins to go, it is hard to see Paddy outwitting Mickey Harte.

On the pitch this is Brian Mallons time to surely stamp his name on a championship if he is ever going to do it. He has been around since about 2004 but has always played 2nd fiddle to Oisin,Ronan Clarke and Stevie McD. He is now the most experienced forward we have.

Green is the colour rte2 now, good show
Only saw last nights show but it looked good all right. That Spain game still sticks in the throat, played so well but just could'nt find a 2nd goal. If Harte had scored that 1st penalty who knows? South Korea in QFs would have been a 50/50 game.

See Mickey has drafted in this young fella from Eglish to ease Tyrone's injury crisis.

Reports are that he has a great spring and will put Jamie Clarke in his pocket on Sunday.

In Thurles the goals and points are given at one end and the total at the other. I know it would probably cost a bit more to make but could you not make on with goals, points and the total in brackets after.
While we're reprogramming Hawkeye could we get it to work out the scores as well?
