Dazzler had 2 men hanging off him every time the ball was put to him...that freed up another Tyrone attacker.

Exactly and he still stuck to his task and came up with 4 points. No way he doesn't start.

He showed mental strength to stick at it, it's also shows Dooher/Logan have backed him. Harte would have hooked him.

I found it a bit strange for some people to have criticised him  in that game. He won most of the ball put into him in the 1st half. The issue was the poor quality of the ball in. It was either too high or on the ground. Bt the time he got the ball 2 men were at times literally on him.

For McCurry or Bradley they need chest high balls in so they can either turn and shoot or off load it quickly before the defenders can get to them.

Haven't really seen too much of mcshane and either McCurry /Bradley together. Has the potential to be a really high scoring forward line.

Same with the ball into all our forwards really. They got out infront regularly but the balls was just off.

It is but any midfield you put down there is going to be terrible. That's the consequence of having terrible midfielders.

I do like Scott, he's a decent player and could still develop into a good one. Matic was brilliant but is past it now. VDB is more of a between the lines attacking player rather than a holding player but if he is to see any time on the pitch at united he's going to have to reinvent himself into a deeper player with more positional discipline. I feel he can do that very well if he wants to.

Pogba cant play as a two and Fred is a donk so I think that's the best options we have

Could we both be as bad as each other??

The squad is really excellent apart from that one glaring weakness and that weakness is going to cost us a lot of games because it's such an important position.

We've 2 very good GKs. I think our back four is as stronger or stronger than anyone bar maybe City. Our attacking options are fantastic really, among the best in Europe.

The real problem now is trying to get the best players on the pitch together. Fred, McTominey and Matic, none are good enough to do that job alone so you have to waste a position playing two of them in any game of note. Even at the weekend against a mid table team we played only one and were exposed time and time again.

That leaves only 4 spots for Bruno, Ronaldo, Pogba, Greenwood, Sancho, Rashford, Cavani and Martial.

7/8 players of real game changing brilliance and we can only play 4 realistically in each game unless we went pure crazy and played 3 at the back with Greenwood and Sancho as wing backs but that wouldn't work.

One thing is for sure, we're going to have incredible options off the bench if only 4 of those can start.

Our strongest eleven right now is probably...

--------------DeGea
AWB - Varane - Maguire - Shaw
-----McTominey - VanDeBeek*
Sancho -----Bruno--------Pogba
-------------Ronaldo

Greenwood, Rashford and Cavani really all interchangeable in that front 4.

*Ok Donny's not going to play there and it'll be Fred but this is my team...

They'll never rejoin the EU.  The process of leaving was damaging enough never mind rejoining an EU that will potentially be more centralised.   I also doubt that the EU would have them.

How would anyone in the EU ever want them back? Since the day they joined they've been nothing but a pain in the arse for the project. In some ways that's probably been a good thing because some of the other larger countries would have pushed much harder for the "ever closer union" outlined in the 57 treaty. I'm all for the EU but within limits and I still feel each country should retain sovereignty over it's economy, taxation, it's borders etc. Perhaps without the Euro-Skeptics in England some of those sovereign items may have been removed.

I think eventually the whole brexit issue will settle down and ultimately Birtian and the EU will revert to having a good relationship albeit from a distance. It will get spiky again when Scotland eventually and inevitably gain independence and rejoin the EU. How will that effect the EU/GB relationship when they have a land border on the Island of Britain.

I'm a republican also and in truth Brexit has pushed the agenda for a United Ireland. That said I do also think that the protocol has the potential to make the north work economically far better than ever since partition, but the unionists simply can't see beyond the end of their nose. The protocol working has the potential to protect the current place they have, but sausages etc.

I think the ref will do fine, he has the big game experience, Mayo fans gave him a lot of bad stick over the years and in many opinions blaming referees became a feature of Mayo football, a key feature of teams not addressing the core issues as to why they were beat and  thankfully they have moved on and are a much better proposition for it.   It is a big day for the players, supporters, for referees and you have to wish him well, both teams are good and hardy footballing teams and mind their own business,  so it should be a great final..no excuses...

Said without a hint of irony in a thread for a Tyrone game lol.

Got to say I'm happy enough it's not Gough for the final for the sake of the game. He's far too fussy for a high intensity game like this. AFAIK both teams have been reffed by Joe once this year, Tyrone Vs Donegal and Mayo Vs Roscommon. In the Donegal game I think Joe was pretty good to Tyrone, we got a few handy ones and maybe got away with a few too, although he did give a black card and a penalty that I still don't know how he got to that decision. The Murphy sending off I think he was left with no choice so in balance probably about even.

I think any football fan if they come out after a match and think the ref was about even for both teams that's all you can ask for given the poor standard they are at the moment.

Going slightly off-topic (as I'm looking to see how remaining clubs games in Tyrone can be scheduled for the 2021 season) but still somewhat on-topic, can anyone confirm that the All-Ireland final must be played to a finish on the 11th September i.e. normal time, then extra-time if there's a draw, and still a draw penalty kicks? Or is there a possibility of a replay if there is a draw after normal or extra-time?

This is all I can find on it from December last year.

"Penalties to decide an All-Ireland final are off the table for 2021 - unless a decider goes to a replay."

I see the match has been postponed until Michelle O'Neill gets out of isolation.

In fairness she should be out of isolation by late next week but you'd really want to give her another week at least to get back to full fitness for an All_Ireland final.

You can't just go around and pick up county Councillors for a big game like this, wouldn't be fair on them.

Didn't want to make a new thread for this so sticking it in here because it could well be news for the 2121 Leinster Championship.

Did anyone here mention the news that Rob Kearney is making his GAA comeback for his club in Louth? You'd have to imagine if he has a few games at club level this autumn and is interested in committing to county ball he'd be a no brainer to call up. Would surely give the county a massive lift having such a legend (in another sport) lining out for them. Would bring a real element of professionalism to them and he looks fit as a fiddle.

He must have had cramp as well as he seemingly asked Morgan for assistance after the clash.  Unless Morgan just lifted his leg when Clifford was laying in a heap.

The dirty Tyrone hoor was trying to make the dead leg worse!!  ;)

Am I dreaming or did one of the commentators or pundits in the mayo Dublin game not say something about O'Shea having only scored a couple of points in all his games against Dublin??
You're not dreaming, I'm afraid.
I checked Willie Joe's results archive and it appears that Aido only scored a single point aginst the Dubs in finals and semis. That was in the 2015 replay.

Hard to fathom for a player of his caliber having played in so many of those contests. I've seen that man in games I was at against Sligo, especially the Connacht final down in the Hyde a few years ago and he was unplayable.
Was that the year Sligo had a 19 year old gasún at FB?

Aye, not the wisest decision on reflection. 2015
