It's all shadowboxing. Crazy to think there will be just 3 matches left at the start of July

Loads of club games for you to feast on Seafoid.

The condensed Intercounty season is a blessing for the rank and file GAA member, probably the players too, journalists lest so.

You don't look forward to the club games like county matches though. One of the great attractions of the long summer stretching out in front of you was the pleasure of marking out the weekends your county would (hopefully) be playing in. A bonus if it was bookended with an AI appearance in September. Only a small number of diehards go the the club matches, at least in the opening c'ship rounds. The system was changed for no real reason other than for it's sake and pandering to the clubs.

Can't be pandering to the clubs who provide the county players in the first place and want a set calendar in good weather for 95% of the players

Some bandwagoners on here

No time for shadow boxing this year with the championship starting 2/3 weeks after the league final

There will be loads of hurling games starting end of July to accommodate 95% of hurlers in the county

Will this put accession to NATO on the political agenda for Ireland?  All of a sudden nothing seems certain anymore.  Who comes to Irelands aid if it is attacked? (Far fetched perhaps, but the world is an uncertain place).
Jesus Christ I hope not.

You think anyone would come to our aid if say Russia, UK or America invaded us - nato or no nato? Get real.

You clearly don't understand what NATO membership entails

Google NATO article 5 for starters

Is it true the Minors beat Kilkenny yesterday?
Beaten by about 2 points in the end. I reckon near enough full strength on both sides with the exception of 1 or 2 prominent players. Derek Mc grath very vocal on sideline. Hopefully we have a better performance this year than the calamities of the previous two

Were the Kierans crew involved?

They have one fine corner forward playing with the school who would be probably their best inter county forward also.

Great win for Galway. Shef seems to be making a difference.
Loads of decent hurlers in the county.

Limerick got away with behaviour in the past but Hegarty didn't on Sunday.

Eddie Brennan has Donal Óg down to a tee when summing up his thoughts on Hegartys sending off on Sunday.

No complaints when the rock was throwing Tipp lads against the posts or the likes back in the day...

Limerick are indeed edgy enough in the tackle but so were Kilkenny in their pomp, lets not forget that. If you want to beat Limerick in the summer time you need to be prepared to face it head on and give as good as you get and if you don't you'll get eaten alive like Cork in the AI final.

Yes, maybe with Guillane getting away with a straight red vrs Tipp that referees are looking out for it and no harm in that, but Hegarty responded to getting a thump from a Galway man after he had been fouled (edit, the ball was deemed over the line but the game was stopped when the Galway man barged into him) and if we're to learn anything from the 5 reds dished out in the Tyrone, Armagh game for lads contributing to a melee then lets be consistent.

That same rule exists in both codes.

Eddie Brennan is in no position to lecture anyone, given what he did right before throw in,in the 2007 all ireland final

As cowardly an act as you'd see on any pitch anywhere

the world should be eternally indebted to Russia for WWII,

even the english and yanks acknowledged that,

we saved their ass  ;)

Only the victorious write the history books. World War One and World War Two were manufactured in a Manhattan board room. From cradle to grave, we are indoctrinated with lies and propaganda. When you truly understand it, you will realize these wars were actually a war on Christianity. We owe Germany a huge apology.

Park with 6 and one or two more ones in the pipeline if they get their way

Ballypickas with 5 and also one if not two more

Poor Portlaoise with 6 leaving

Are you trying to say that 6 Portlaoise players are heading out to Park ? 🤔

If you looked at the list

You would see 6 leaving Portlaoise and 4 going to park

It looks like the rural urban by law is and has been doing its job

Apart from a few I didn't see alot of the names getting transferred on there clubs team sheets over the last few years🤣
That's usually the case. The vast majority of transfers are uncontested and involve either lads who haven't played for years or underage players who might be moving home address.

Is this just the list of clear cut transfers ?

Is there not a few more contentious ones in the pipeline?

This thread is so depressing. I mean how f**king stupid can some people be? It's a straight forward scenario, but idiots are making it complicated.

Uk wants to invade Ireland (They've already invaded and claimed Northern Ireland as part of the Uk)

Ireland quite rightly are saying they don't want to be taken over by the Uk and Europe/NATO are acknowledging their decision

Idiots here are criticizing the US but how exactly are they the bad guys here?

If you think it is that simple I think you are the idiot.

I suppose you'd be in favor of this happening also?

Whether you like it or not Ukraine is a sovereign nation and is entitled to make its own decisions as it not Putin, sees fit

Shocking result, would be acceptable for hurling... not football.
Can't find any match report or lineup anywhere.

and theres the issue right there

some in the Football Fraternity labouring under the impression that football in the county is better than what it actually is

The Footballers got torn apart by a Division 4 Team today

Thats the level they are at

Sounds like you are waiting a lifetime to say that, I think it's counter productive to get into basically how bad the other is.   Neither are in a particularly good place.

As I have said for a long time now we won't solve anything till we look at the foundations of which we are built on but nobody seems to want to get into that.

P.S Can't say I did not see yesterday coming and there will be more pain.

If only the world knew that all the oracle's of football reside in the Laois GAA forum, there would never be a mistake made.
For people to post in here that Sheehans appointment is doomed to failure is ridiculous.
He probably wouldn't have been my first choice but I don't claim to to foresee the future and know it won't end well.
Perhaps part of the problem in Laois is all the whingeing and moaning that goes on in the background. An appointment has been made, if the county got behind the team the chances of success may improve.
For those claiming this is an awful appointment - out of interest, who was the last manager you were happy with when they were announced?

Happy to oracle it, complete shit show but the definition of madness is to repeat the same thing and expect different results.  We can do better,  Jesus they have dragged us to a point where we think we deserve it.

Will ya listen to yourself and cop on

We've been on the slide since we decided we knew more than Micko and got shut of him, that wasn't today or yesterday

if not delusions of grandeur then delusions of respectability with some of the football crowd on here

from what I've seen at underage, there a massive failing in a lot of clubs in even getting the basics into their juvenile players. We punched above our weight for a few years at minor etc but that's long gone now as well.

We haven't hit rock bottom yet but its coming.

According to the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS), Northern Ireland was one of nine UK regions to have a fiscal deficit in 2019.

The northwest, which includes Cumbria and the Greater Manchester area, had the biggest (£20.2 billion) followed by the West Midlands (£15 billion), Wales (£13.5 billion) and Scotland (£13.5 billion).

London, the southeast and the east of England had fiscal surpluses of £38.7 billion, £21.7 billion and £4 billion respectively and were therefore net contributors to the UK exchequer.

Thats the how and the where of who funds who in the UK

Now

Lets go at what this £9.4bn is composed of

£3.4 billion in pension payments paid by the British state to pensioners in Northern Ireland, which would continue continue to paid for as long as those pensioners are alive by the British government

North's share of the UK's national debt and the annual repayments arising from it. This was put at £2.4 billion in 2019.

£1.1bn which is the Norths payment to the UK defence budget, Compare this figure with the ROI annual spend of €1.1bn a year and it will give you an idea of where savings will be made when it comes to a United Ireland as I doubt if we will be building any Aircraft Carriers anytime soon, buying F35's at £100m a pop or invading Afghanistan.

Which leaves a net subvention of £2.5bn

But that's a lot of money I hear you say to find and it is

But the NI economy is currently operating at 30% pro rata on any metric to that of Republics

Supposing we got it to 60% then it would pay its way as per corporation and income tax returns
