Rick has a really strong back catalogue.

Quote from: trueblue1234 on December 22, 2023, 09:44:55 PMLove Christmas. But starting the elf on a shelf was as big a mistake as I've made. Anyone who hasn't started it. Please, please don't. Not only is it a pain in the a$$, it just makes the older kids question everything more as well. Whoever started it deserves to have 12 branches of Holly rammed where the stars don't sparkle.
Oldest's last year of Santa this year, so she'll be taking on the mantle for the younger two next year. We'll See how fond of it she is then!!

Any tips on how to avoid starting elf on the shelf, my kids are starting to hear about it at school so may have no option but to do it next year  :o
Tell them Santa sent a Robin to keep an eye on them instead. Put birdseed out and hope for the best!! 😀
The Robin was what we were told when we were small.

There are plenty of suggestions on Facebook. Where he throws toilet roll down the stairs for example, or ends up in the fridge or outside on the car. But it's 23 or 24 days in December so simple moving him around the house works.

Saudi has a great outlet in boxing. Money wins the day.

I read somewhere 10 years ago that Chris Rea got 100k in royalties annually for his song.

If you keep your nose clean, then it's a constant source of income. Gary Glitter had a good Christmas song in the late 80's, but it's obviously not played nowadays.

They should have 10 points deducted every season if the last few weeks are anything to go by

Everton have a big shiny new stadium for next season. They won't want to be showing it off to Plymouth Argyle and Stoke City.

Where was the semi last year for Glen?

All semis were in Croke last year, both codes. Not this year though. Personally think they should be in CP as you are guaranteed a good surface

Why not this year?

O'Toole Park would be the favoured neutral venue for Crokes. The traffic getting across the city to Croke Park is always a pain.

Fintona a good venue also.

It's a late finish this year. Leagues should be up and running by end of March.

Quote from: imtommygunn on December 08, 2023, 09:34:12 PMThere was a thing on the radio the other week about a boy in east Belfast who attacked someone with a vodka bottle because they were a foreigner. It then proceeded to say the boy had 129 previous convictions. 129.. how do you rehabilitate people like that.

Used to see that all the time in the papers. Remember a girl from Strabane with 2 or 3 hundred. Surely there should be a threshold of say X number of convictions means Y years in jail. Multiple offenders should be getting harsher sentences.

Driving a car illegally is a sure way to wrack up the conviction numbers: no license, no insurance, speeding, defective tyres, driving when banned.  There's 5 separate convictions.

If the cops know you are into drugs/crime, then there is more chance they stop you when driving. The cycle continues of driving offences for serial offenders as they know it kinda means nothing in the overall scheme of their rap sheet.

And there are guys like this in every big town.

The Google search is frightening reading the rap sheet. He had been in today's courtroom many times before.

No indication yet how Odhran came across his path that fateful night.

That kinda reads like the Lurgan drug problem is the fault of the Guards.

You get the feeling  Scotstown are further down the road and won't be giving Glen second chances.

Quote from: weareros on November 22, 2023, 09:38:58 PMDo Irish people really make good soccer players. We rarely produce a player at international level standard that can leave a player dead with skill. Liam Brady and Damien Duff are the only two that come to mind, and Georgie Best who was on another level. A Roy Keane was a great player but very limited skill wise. When it comes to nimbleness and skill, as a race we are great at the fiddle, tin whistle, bodhrán, Uileann pipe, guitar, boxing, plastering and the pen. We seem to have been overly blessed with movement in the elbow, fists and fingers, but useless with the feet. Even Irish dancers look very stiff compared to the Latins and the few lads who venture out onto the floorboards and get too ambitious are in danger of tripping over themselves. Our best chance is immigrants adding to our gene pool. We are seeing that in Athletics and the beginnings of that in soccer. There's hope yet.
Soccer is globalised. We do better in sports that are not globalised like rugby and GAA. In athletics and rowing we wait for generational talents .

We don't have a development system and we don't have a league of an appropriate standard for soccer.

It is not a priority.

What a weird post, take a look at some of the great Dublin/ Kerry recent footballers especially the attackers. All have the ability to shoot accurately on the move with both feet, I think this sometimes get overlooked when it is actually an incredibly difficult skill.

Take a look at the premier league stars that are lauded who point blank refuse to shoot with their 'weaker' foot.

There is no lack of skill or flair in this country.

+ Tyrone also.

Long run for Trillick for a 1pm start. Thought Enniskillen would have got that match.

Monaghan & Derry weren't far away in their semis this year. They have to believe they can beat them next time.
