If I could pick my own choice of candidates I would definitely talk to Kevin McStay for the role, IMO he is exactly what we need, his teams play football in a way that would suit the Laois players at his disposal and he is known as an exceptional man manager and makes teams the greater than the sum of their parts.

In reality the next manager IMO will be Mick Lillis .

I didn't think of McStay, ok correct me if I'm wrong he's retired and lives near Athlone, Liam McHale is part of that package  would they be interested that's the question.

With regard to Lillis is it just you guessing or have you heard something PK.
I havent heard alot but I was chatting to a person close to the CB and he knows  way more than I do and he said he would be surprised if the next manager wasnt MIck Lillis or Glen Ryan.

Good jesus.I find it hard to believe the lack of faith in Cheddar from some on this site and from some laois supporters in general. For what he has done for us as a county cant be quantified, we were facing into the Christy Ring and now we lose to Dublin playing poorly and we are disappointed . It has been quite the turnaround and  if, as expected, Cheddar leaves it will leave us with a huge void to fill and I really do not believe there is an appetite from Laois CB to fill it.  Cheddar drove this project forward and I dont see anyone filling the void.

I would usually get excited about a turnaround in fortunes in Laois senior football when we begin the hunt for a new  manager after
the poor reign of a previous manager but no point this time from what many people around the county are saying about the upcoming appointment.

Apparently there is very little money to attract a manager, not a that a feel throwing money at a mgr is the answer but if we were to get interest from a man who can unite the county and make the most of what we have we dont have the cash to meet his demand in terms of himself ,his mgt team and funding for a truly top class professional set up.

Agree with Jimmy , I think we will sneak it.

This team has something about them, if they can get over the mental edge KK will have of playing at home I think we will win .

I cant help but feel this is a defining moment in our development, it seems like the last 3 years have led to this  game.

A win here would mean the world to Laois and I feel we are well capable of beating them. My worry is us conceding goals and our lack of goal threat. They will attack our full back line with high ball and in Currums and Bergin they have a serious aerial advantage and of course Dooley is top class.

We need to improve and I believe we will, we need to play smart and our distribution from our back line off short puck outs has to be top class or else they will punish us.

I do think we will win , we need this and I believe we can and will win.

my prediction laois 2-21 offaly 3-17

I don't believe for a second the Kildare in turmoil stories emanating  from the Kildare camp.

The media and supporters from Kildare ( whilst still ultra confident of hammering us) have fed  stories of unrest all week and if we believe any BS that comes from them we are worse ejits. We need to concentrate on ourselves as we have enough to do with our own side without their perceived issues.  I'm in no doubt that they will be a much improved outfit from the Kildare team that had a rubbish league run, they are not a bad team overnight and have a number of good footballers all over the pitch but we are well able to beat them.

There will not be much in this and to be honest I feel who ever wants it more and has the bottle to win it will win it. Laois are long overdue a win of such a nature.

According to Cunningham King is out  for 6-8 weeks.

I wonder will Cunningham make any major changes to the team other than Whelan and King?

Matthew whelan, jim fitzpatrick and Paddy Whelan have left the panel I hear.

I just feel so sorry the the panel and management team that have worked so hard in such a dedicated fashion to improve themselves and Laois hurling to see such bullsh#t going on before the match they worked towards all year. Typical laois .

Offaly must be rolling around laughing at the thought of the way we are carrying on.

I cant help but agree with Jimmy point that this wasnt an isolated incident.

After Chedder fought tooth and nail to get us the professional set up a senior inter county team deserves , to get everyone on board  and invest so much of himself in this project for him to walk away 10 days before IMO the defining match of his reign is inexplicable but if he is gone he is gone so we need to regain focus on the Offaly match.
