That was much better today and no surprise really given the team selection. I know it can be said the game should have been killed off but the fact it wasn't was not just down to United. Should have had a penalty - Valencia was outstanding throughout as he usually is.

I can only hope that Mourinho has finally seen the light regarding certain players and his team selections. Unfortunately United are 8 points off the top in a mediocre league where they have as good a team as anyone. A win today would have been helpful but the 6 points dropped in the last 3 games will be hard to make up.

To be fair, Rooney played well when he came on.

Agree we should be in a title race but unfortunately that ship has sailed and we're in a battle to finish top 4 barring some sort of miracle. We have been very unlucky though and we appear to have suffered more injuries than anyone else. I was looking forward to seeing Mkhitaryan but he's really done something to upset Mourinho, lets hope he gets his head down as he'll get a chance soon enough.

Its a strange season where Chelsea & Liverpool are really going to benefit from no European football given they both have limited squads, if either were in Europe this year neither would be title challengers.

A lot of irish supporters doing serious crying on social media. Most would fall into the bandwagon support. Yes New Zealand played on the edge but I wouldn't say they were overly dirty. Cynical yes but not dirty. If Kane and Fekitoa are to be cited then surely Sexton has to be for his high tackle on Barrett.

Going to be an interesting selection ahead of the NZ game.

The problem is someone like me with limited knowledge of the sport is relying on the commentary and listening to the lads on SKY you'd think the ref and TMO were appalling.

Looks like to me Ireland are playing well to me but haven't enough points on the board.

I've been disappointed with some of Murray's kicks, not precise enough.

More points dropped at home but nothing like last season where we weren't creating chances at all, thats 3 very good performances against Stoke, Burnley & Arsenal where we've been comfortably the better team and should certainly have 6 points more but we've created a huge problem for ourselves with that gap.

Valencia outstanding again, haven't a clue why he gets so much stick from reds. I'm happy with that midfield 3 in big games but far too much is expected from Rashford, i'd have swapped him and Rooney the last 10 given how open Arsenal were at the back and Rooney would have been experienced enough not to let Oxlade-Chamberlin breeze passed him.

Injuries wise we've been the worst affected of the top 6 and we've been the unluckiest in terms of been on the wrong end of some poor decisions, that will change. We've got it all to do but we're certainly a better team then we were the last 3 seasons.

Great result against Austria and puts us in a great position to qualify. I'd be more than happy to draw both games against Wales although if we can beat them in March their as good as gone. 23 points should certainly guarantee qualification although as long as the best 4 teams in the group continue to take points off each other it could be as low as 20.

Last game is away to Wales, lets hope its over by then.

I never realised Nathan Redmond is eligible to play for Ireland, he'll end up getting a few caps for England at some point and that will be it for his international career.

Replacements : Sean Cronin, Cian Healy, Finlay Bealham, Iain Henderson, Josh Van der Flier, Kieron Marmion, Paddy Jackson, Gary Ringrose.

I have a limited knowledge of Rugby but I was expecting Dillane to be in the squad, is he injured or just deemed not good enough yet?

Rooney making a show of himself again, if he was producing the goods on the pitch he'd get away with it but he isn't.

Surely the gate receipts alone would cover the cost of the 160m euros?

Corofin will be disappointed with their 2nd half performance although they'd have been well ahead at HT only for the ref.

I thought the ref was appalling, giving frees to both teams they didn't deserve although Castlebar were certainly the main beneficiaries from him.

Douglas will be very disappointed with his performance today, he did kick 2 great scores but he missed another 4 or 5 that you'd expect a player with aspirations playing for Mayo to convert. Ian Burke kicked some great scores and probably deserved the man of the match award.

Referee is dreadful, keeping Castlebar in it.

I've been told the All Blacks were missing several of their best 15 but how how many of Ireland's best 15 were missing?

Goliath first season was very good.

The same goes for the Amanda Knox documentary, who took Johnny and West of Memphis.

Did Durcan really have a superb year? I thought he was a bit disappointing until the 2 finals where he was outstanding.

Apparently 7 of the City's players that played in their 'reserve' team against United last night were involved as City beat Barca last night.

Jones is back in the squad tomorrow, wont be long before his next injury. He's sent a very strong squad to Turkey.

In fairness to Schweinstieger the club had obviously agreed to let him those breaks, have to blame LVG for allowing that not the player. Mourinho wanted rid of him so he could bring another player in but Schweinstieger has called his bluff and has eventually got back in after 3 months out in the cold. I'm surprised Schweinstieger just didn't leave, he was happy to sit back and take the money without playing. He was brought back in after the Chelsea game so reckon Mourinho  is going to play 3 midfielders a lot more from now on.

That some wage leaving the club in Rooney's & Schweinstieger's direction, over £20m a year.
