Quoteevery now and again he goes into this half talking, half singing, rap, rant type thing that is terrible. And as for some of the lyrics - absolutely ridiculous at times. Listened to one of his albums for the first time the other day and burst out laughing a few times. Acquired taste indeed.

That said the odd good song but way way over rated.

Agree, a very acquired taste indeed.  As a singer, I just don't rate him at all.

I was in a house the other day which has underfloor heating installed both downstairs and upstairs.  There was a thermostat in each room so the temp could be controlled on a per room basis. When we went into the house it seemed to be chilly enough as the heating was at its lowest setting.  After 30 minutes the temp was perfect. So this would be comparable to the heating time of rads.  Now this was in the so called summer we are having.....would like to see it in the middle of December.

The distance down depends on the square footage of the house you want to heat.  The show on TG4 the other night showed a house getting the hole drilled with a massive machine.  They then send a pipe down 150 metres with a u bend on the end, when the water comes back up it is boiling hot and is then pumped around the house.  No oil, no wood pellets....just a big hole and a pump. To run the pump all of the time costs approx. 500 euro per year in electricity.

If you have the space, you can lay the pipes down horizontally in trenches as was said earlier, the trenches are only 3 feet or so below the serface.

Hot water under floor heating Laoislad.  I heard as a rule of thumb it is approx. twice as expensive per year to run when compared to radiators, would you agree? Taking into account that it always has to remain on, all be it at a low level.

Also considering a wood pellet burner or a geothermal system of some sort to create the hot water.

Aaaheemmm..Gabriel....150 'metres'

Heading to Sligo for a night on the 12th and then up to Gweedore for a couple of nights to sample the best Guinness in Ireland!

Does anyone have any experience of under floor heating?  What is you opinion of it so far?

Also, anyone looked into the geothermal heating system...you know the one where you dig down about 150 metres to heat up the water, and then pump it through the house.

Thanks in advance.

Now Joe deserves full credit for what he has achieved for Armagh, he brought us our first All Ireland and that will never be forgotten.

However, I do not subscribe to the view that Joe should always have the last say as to when he quits as manager.  I believe that should he wish to stay on for another year, for the good of Armagh football and rebuilding, his hand should be forced and made to go.

It is now that Armagh need new ideas and a fresh approach.  Joe should be given the chance to walk away on his on terms gracefully which hopefully he will do. Paul Grimley is the man for the job.

For some reason, as an Armagh fan, I find myself breathing sigh of relief this evening.  I think today has been at least two years coming, and it definitely signals the end of an era.  Joe Kernan and this team deserve nothing but credit for what they have achieved since 1999, it was a long stretch, bringing our first All Ireland, first National League and Ulster after Ulser after Ulster.  As a result, I cannot see Armagh retreating to the dark days of the 80's and early 90's.

But today had to happen sometime, and it might as well have been today than in the next game or the one after that......were they ever really All Ireland contenders this year, definitely didn't look like it today.

As a neutral who attended last night's game....just a few very quick points:

Worst Down performance I have ever witnessed, simply attrocious.

Meath were also extremely poor, if they had met anyone else bar Leitrim, they could easily have been stuffed.  Colm O'Rourke had a poor game.  His positional sense, particularly in the first half was very poor, it almost looked like he was going out of his way to get a position where he would never receive a pass.

Darren Faye still the best player on the field.

Down can't blame Paddy O'Rourke on this one, simply awful.

QuoteHowever this was a criminal investigation and I believe the GAA acted completely correctly in banning him.

Unfortunately they didn't ban Michael Feeney at the time.  I remember a few years back when that all kicked off, he was inside the fence at a game in Clones with a smug look on his face!

I don't know where Jarlath gets the time from to be involved in as much as he reportedly is....his own day job, the different GAA committees, the BBC, his newspaper column, now this new committee...he must never be at home!

QuoteDavid you're right. The first team out of the hat gets home advantage - provided you have a championship standard ground. The game can't be in Crossmaglen because it's not up to championship standard. I'd say the fixture will be reversed and it will be played at Celtic Park. On the other hand Armagh could use Newry as their home venue.

Lecale, why can Clones not be used?  Everyone knows that Armagh use Clones as their Championship ground, pending the redevelopment of the Athletic Grounds.  There is absolutely no question of this game being switched to Celtic Park.

No matter who Armagh may have been drawn against (with the exception of Leitrim), you would never get an Armagh supporter who would guarantee a win against anyone.  That's the thing about Armagh, you just never know!

That said, if Bradley and Muldoon are curtailed, then Armagh will be hard to stop.

Plain and simple...the Provincial championships should be detached from the All Ireland.  Either a chmpions league style format which is not based on geographical location or a straight forward open draw for the All Ireland.

The Provincials can be run instead of competitions such as the McKenna Cup, O'Byrne Cup etc.

QuoteWhy couldn't they just scrap this post now that Papa Doc and Marty are best of mates and want to go boating together off Ballycastle.

Speaking of Paisley and McGuinness, after watching yesterday evening's news, I still can't take it all in!  The transformation from Paisley, sitting laughing and joking with McGuinness is sureal.  They must have doped Paisley when they had him over at St. Andrews!

Amazing to think that if the big man kicks the bucket during his tenure of First Minister, the honour of Chief Mourner, officially representing the Assembly and the people, will be Marty himself!  I wonder what colour the wreath would be?!  :o
