According to the Donegal website:

C.L.G. Dhun na nGall is extremely disappointed to learn that the forthcoming Ulster Senior Football Championship 1st Round Match, against Armagh, on Sunday, 27th May, has been fixed for Clones, despite the fact that when the development at McCumhaill Park is completed, in a few weeks time, the capacity will be in excess of 21,500

The decision, by Ulster Council, will mean a round trip of over 400 Km, for most Donegal Supporters, yet for Armagh supporters it will seem like a home game as Clones is only a few Kilometers from the Armagh border

So much for home advantage...

Jaysus lads, the Championship doesn't start for another eight weeks!

A full strength Tyrone team would have that Donegal team for breakfast, you have no worries lads.

You may be right Pangurban. I do remember you dismissing Donegal as inferior to Down in the run-up to the Championship last year though. :P

if Fermanagh had one or two top class forwards who would be guaranteed to score 5 or 6 points a game I honestly believe we wouldn't be sitting bottom of the table. In every game this year we have had loads of possession in frontn of goal but we simply cannot score. A top quality forward is so important to every side. gooch for kerry, mortimer for mayo and o'neill for tyrone are just some examples. if you took each of those forwards away from their respective counties they would really struggle!!

If only there was a transfer market in the GAA... ;)

Apparently Rory Gallagher had a good game for Cavan yesterday. :P

Is Stephen Maguire back?

QuoteIf he tried to hurt the Tyrone player, then he deserves to be condemned and punished, end of story.

There there....that didn't hurt as much as you thought now did it.

Given that I never said anything to the contrary, not really. Some things go without saying. I have no desire to see thuggishness in Donegal players, particularly as such indiscipline has cost us very important games over the past few seasons e.g. Armagh 2005, Fermanagh 2004.

From where I sat I did not see Ricey do anything at the Donegal game. Have not seen it on tv so canlt comment further.

What I did see was a Donegal U-21 drop his knee 23 times into our players face.

Now regardless of whether Hitler killed 6 million Jews, Pat Garret shot Billy the Kid or the Black and Tans opened up on Blood Sunday.......this is the action of a dirty wee tr**p.

Once again - just admit what yr player did was wrtong and get over it.

I think you will find that on the old board not once did I support Riceys actions when he did this against Armagh, much the opposite in fact I condemed it out of hand. But then I can see the splinter.........................

As I said before, I did not attempt to defend the Donegal player's actions. Why would I? These things happen in all teams at all levels, and that's why there are rules and consequences. If he tried to hurt the Tyrone player, then he deserves to be condemned and punished, end of story.

And spare me the "splinter" horseshit.

It would be great too see someone, just for once, actually admit what was done was wrong and get on with it instead of trying to find something sonmeone else did to try and justify things.

THe u-21 incident was unconnected to the Senior game.....deal with it.,

You're the one who is throwing the "dirty wee tr**p" label around, while not uttering a word about your own player's offenses.

At no point did I excuse the Donegal U-21 player or use McMenamin's actions to justify what he did. I'm just making the point that if you're going to single out opposition players for accusations of thuggery, maybe you should make sure your own team is clean first.

Can we expect an outraged post from you on the Tyrone V Donegal thread about McMenamin?

Tyrone v Donegal

Those in the stand coluld see him drop the knee into our fella 3 times.Dirty wee tr**p.

Now what do you call a Tyrone player who drops his knees into the neck of an Armagh man? is he a dirty wee tr**p too?

Would that be the same player who threw an elbow across the back of Colm McFadden's head in the senior game last night?

Granted, McMenamin had got a late dig in the ribs from Ciaran Bonner a few minutes earlier, but that had nothing to with McFadden (and Bonner was booked for it), and the elbow was about as "trampish" as you can get.

Not sure if the team mentioned by FermPundit is correct, thats probably what was put in the paper, but as we have come to know over this last few years, Fermanagh can never have a team picked to put in the mid-week papers(Don't know why, every other county can!)I think you will find Eamon Maguire and Mark Little in the corner forward positions with Ciaran McElroy full forward..................as for Bradley, weather may not be suitable yet, usually only makes an appearance in the later stages of the league so he gets a chane in the Championship  ;)

McIvor is a Friday or Saturday man too!

Donegal are defintely dark horses for ulster this year. back to back league defeats for Tyrone. when was the last time this happened?

Definitely the most promising Donegal squad in many years. Its a shame Tyrone and Armagh are not in the other side of the draw. :P

Kerry up next, with Limerick and Fermanagh to follow. Division 1 status secured. Happy days (for now anyway!).

Is the Kerry game home or away to Donegal?

Kerry and Fermanagh are home games for Donegal. Limerick is away.

FT Donegal 2-11 Tyrone 1-8.

I didnt see the penalty incident J70 but the fact that the very pro-Donegal Radio Highland commentary team didnt think it was a penalty was interesting ;) Didnt sound like Tyrone were at the races anyway though.

I saw it on the Setanta coverage. No doubt in my mind. At least two defenders brought him down just as he was about to lay it off. The ref was a couple of yards away.

And yes, Tyrone were awful!

Nice revenge for the McKenna Cup defeat, but Tyrone were missing Kavanagh, Mulligan and McGuigan. Good performances all over the field, particularly in the second quarter when the match was won. Very encouraging when you can bring on the likes of Toye, Doherty and Leon Thompson as subs, with men like Michael Hegarty and Eamon McGee left in reserve. The return of Devenney and McFadden has been vital though, and the two of them were excellent tonight.

Donegal score a penalty, 2-8 to 1-3. Commentary team seemed very doubtful about penalty award.

Devenney probably took an extra step or two in the buildup, but it was a definite foul.
