Warrenpoint have apparently asked paddy o rourke to take them next year.for a club that yaps on about us stealing their players I think this stinks of hypocrisy

Untrue rumours apparently with all who I have spoken to within the club to date.

Seems a bit of sour grapes and trying to take the glass of our great year with 2 final victories over yourselves only by the "wee towny club". I can assure you from what I have seen we are moving in the right direction and will be competing with all these bigger clubs at all levels in the coming years

Was down at the An Riocht game on Friday evening in Annaclone and just have to say that the actions of the Annaclone supporters after the game were disgraceful, following Kieran Trainor down the line, shouting abuse.  And the actions of one of the was crazy, pushed Kieran then aimed a punch at him, thankfully a fella was able to push him outta the way, Its idiots like there that should be given  lifetime ban from the GAA. We all lose the rag at the ref during the game but then thats all part of the craic but after the match, absolutely uncalled for!!

I agree, no room in our game for those sort of scenes we dont want to go down the same road as those in Tyrone do regularly, What sort of a referee is Trainor? There s a couple of decent young lads doing underage games at the minute, at senior level who are the top officials in our county? Is there anyone in our county who referee's senior county championship games?

As far as I know we don't have any at inter county championship level but C Reynolds and C Branagan are at National League level with Corrigan also involved nationally a.nd ulster level along with B Rice who I see is officiating this week in the Ulster Minor Championship

If were at DOwn v Antrim then you can hardly blame the Ulster council, as it wasn't their fixture.

Casement may get its makeover, not sure about staff training!

armaghniac- You must be be a steward for the ulster council if you are sticking up for them so much? ;) ulster council officials where in charge as all people had ulster council ID badges round there neck

Was at the game good and early expecting to get a covered seat around 6 tonight-an hour before throw in and was about to go up the stairs to the stand when a number of the Frontline security men used heavy handed tactics (the 2nd time I have heard about after their depisode against a member of press last week in Pairc Esler when they are never seen about the place untill last weeks game) to refuse entry to everyone even ticket holders by slamming the door in their face. This caused uproar among the ticket holders and when returning to the turnstiles to get our money back the supervisor didnt seem interested and then the stile operater in the stile we went through refused numerous times to refund us to get to the terrace as he "didnt remember us" passing though. But in the end we got a refund. This was a serious lack of communication between the ulster council and security/ stewards as ticket holders should of had their seats reserved first before anyone who only just paid on the day and these stewards and "supervisors" who dont have a notion how to deal with people. But it wasnt helped by the fact that 2 whole sections were blocked of in the stand for health and safety. That stadium should have even hosted the game as its badly in need of a makeover and staff retraining.

GAA Discussion / GAA subject to bigotry from DUP
June 27, 2011, 02:36:39 PM
Taken from HS:

Tyrone DUP MLA delights at his county's loss
27 June 2011

The DUP's Ian McCrea has come in for stinging criticism after he expressed his delight that Tyrone, which forms part of his constituency, were beaten in yesterday's Ulster SFC semi-final.

McCrea is an MLA for Mid Ulster, which includes large parts Tyrone and Derry.

In the aftermath of yesterday's game at Clones he took to twitter and posted that he was glad that Tyrone has been defeated: "Great to see Tyrone beat in the Ulster semi's today hope Donegal beat Londonderry in the final to keep the celebrations out of Mid Ulster."

That tweet drew a number of angry replies with McCrea then trying to say that he didn't want to see local GAA teams being successful, as it only led to civic receptions being paid for out of local government money, which he deemed a 'waste'.

"As thousands of pounds of public money has been wasted on receptions for Tyrone I think I have a right to express my view," said McCrea in response to those who hit out at his statement.

Total disgrace to openly post that on twitter, bigotry of the highest degree.

if bennys hamstring is still playing up,i wouldnt want to see him flogged to death on the wide open spaces of croke park. the most important match is in the atheltic grounds in may and we need all our players fully fit and flying for that one. with survival now assured the fringe players should see abit of action as we may need some of them later in the summer.

really looking forward to sat night, think we can give them a good rattle.
I would say thats the wrong approach to just give up saying we have been guaranteed safe in division 1, the team as a whole as the potential to push on and beat Dublin and Kerry and earn a place in a league final for the 3rd year running, each a division higher than before,  which is very impressive.Every game in the future should be taken with equal importance as the last, league game and championship game. I would not go out and play the fringe players and end up loosing marginally.  A win is a win and is a confidence booster which the whole team needs to go and to try to win ulster or even get far in the all ireland series.

Is Ross Mcgarry in the squad?
Yeah, saw him there at the match as a waterboy, looked like a hand injury with bandage/cast on it.

I have read the comments with interest and many good points have been made. But the fact still remains that many other teams are regularly scoring 45s from the middle third and have at least 50% accuracy from the outside thirds. We are lucky to score half our 45s even in the middle section of the pitch. This could be worth up to two points per game and can't be readily dismissed.

I agree with many posts that expecting every 45 to result in a score is optimistic and that Goulding and Sheehan are exceptions rather than the rule. But I still think there is a gap between these guys and our record that at least needs closing. Okay so we shouldn't expect every one to go over but I don't think we put enough over.

But I am sure that I've not stumbled on something that the management aren't already aware of. They will be working on this. Each issue we have had up to now has clearly been addressed and worked on - Experience of bench players, Variation of kickouts, Tackling, Dropping the ball and slipping over, Fullback. Even things like Paddy Tally constantly running on the pitch against Mayo. Each issue has been addressed. Even in midfield in the Armagh game, the management tweaked the system to allow more recovery of possession to take place. I can say that in each game things are improved and clearly have been identified and worked on. I am sure this will be worked on too and improved.

I dont see why your mentioning this about running on the pitch, hes the selector/runner and is allowed onto the pitch if you were of knowledge of the rules of Gaelic Football as it states below and if he wasnt following the rules the 4th official would note it and the county board would be fined 500euro a go;

One Team Official (Maor Foirne, who is an
assistant to the Bainisteoir), may move
alongside the sidelines and enter the field
of play during a break in play - through the
Substitution Zone - to make changes and/or
to give instructions to players.
