Simple really. Play off the provincials in May June. Break each province into two with the winners of each group playing in a final. That way each side should get two / three games in a round robin and the integrity of the provinces is retained. Then in July a straight out of the hat championship open draw. Lose and your gone. 32 teams then 16 then 4 and then the final. Currently its a bore that only comes to life at the QF stage. death by a thousand cuts. free the damn thing

Former Mayo All Ireland winner 1950/51 Mick Mulderrig passed away in Rathfarnham this week. Mick won his first senior medal at 19, same year as he won a Railway cup medal. One of natures gentlemen, Mick never blew but when he stepped down at 25 from inter county football his name was enshrined in the annals of mayo football. A Dheis de ar a ainm dilĂs.

The height of Sligomans2 season, coming on the site to watch mayo and the rossies slag each other. Might as well, nothing much doing in Sligo anyway.

Who is the guy with the eye in the Mayo jersey?

Try this way. Bus to Knock, flight to Waterford, flight to Southend, up to Heathrow, flight back to Galway and bus to Salthill. Mayo like to travel in style.

McStay...next Mayo manager.

And can i say, a very good Roscommon outfit. were worthy of at least one All Ireland then...sufficed with a league I think. Finneran, Earley, Lindsay, McManus, keegan, left it behind them v Dubs semi final 1979.

I'll tell who division two would be good for...Roscommon...but they aren't able to get up there. Well done Galway U21s, old order being restored.

Watched the All Star ceremonies last night, actually gave up on them in 1997 when Kildare got 3 for reaching and losing a Leinster semi final. The presentation was more like a funeral as the players walked past a line of men dressed in black with sombre faces shaking their hands along the lines of "sorry for your troubles" only they were probably saying "well done".

Any system that has tokenism in it is a joke hence giving the Dublin player one. Also giving Dillon from Mayo one when he was hardly spotted in the final as usual and omitting McLoughlin was an absolute joke. My question is this...where was the Kerry man?

Folks just to let you know the mindset of Hardy. He comes from Meath and many Meath people hated those from the west who got "their" land. This bile and sneer has permeated those people in their thinking  especially about Mayos. Those who moved over  were called "Colonists". I met a man last week who moved up in the 1960s and he and his brothers had to fight some knuckle head every week because of what was put into the "natives " heads until both sides got tired.

A neighbour of mine went to school in the 1950s after moving up and nobody spoke to her for years in class. So Hardy Mayo aint team of the decade, three in a row or anything else for that matter.Nor are they down in division three, nor have they issues with their manager. They simply beat Kerry in a league match, no big deal.

However most that play for Mayo hail from there. Meath is made up of dare I say Mayo second generation like the Lyons, Harnans, O Malleys and O Sullivan to name a few. Gallagher the keeper is of Donegal stock, Coyle also. O Rourke is a Leitrim man. John Gibbons, John Nallen and eddie Maguire wore the Meath shirt, all were Mayo born and bred. So save your sneers and smart assed comments for your own tribe of knuckle heads and let Mayo worry about Mayo. And dont worry about who will stop Mayo...at least it wont be Louth and our Connacht titles are won playing GAA not rugby.  Take Jinxy with you and play in the division three site with all the other dross.
