Banty is the new Wexford manager

Any thoughts on him from Monaghan/Meath posters?

Rumours in Wexford that this game may be fixed for Clones?

Question: Why didn't the GAA have a double header last weekend with both Limerick and Clare meeting each other in Football and Hurling?

Question: Why are the GAA having a double header this weekend for the Dublin football and Hurling teams?

Because in Munster, counties have pre arranged home and away agreements. Last weekend, the counties with the home advantage didn't want to give it up, just to facilitate a double header. The home and way agreements mean that they can't be forced to.

In Leinster, no such agreements exist. The counties that comprise the Leinster Council vote on the venue for games. They usually vote for the venue that will bring in the most amount of money for the provincial council, hence the double header being in Croker. The 12 Leinster counties vote on it jointly. They aren't forced to do it bv the GAA in HQ, or by the Dubs. It is decided on at provincial level.

Wexford and Offaly have home and away arrangements in the Leinster championship.....

The reply of the Leinster Hurling quarter final between Wexford and Dublin has been set for Parnell Park, which has caused Liam Dunne, the Wexford manager, to complain. He contends the game should be played in Croke Park.

I guess  you can't keep everybody happy.
for all the whinging by eejits, all intercounty players WANT to play in croker - whether its against the dubs or not, and even if the dubs are your opponents, no one gives a feck that there 'may' be some home advantage (though most top sides play there as much as Dublin do these days so its hardly any advantage to the metropolitans) !

I'd say parnell park would be considered more of an advantage to Dublin teams ! They play there more often (esp hurling) in the past in league games at least.

This fella is like those students from around the country who head to college in Dublin and come back with a D4 accent a few months later. A feeble character.
The reason Dunne wants the game moved to Croke Park is because they haven't played a championship game there since 2008!!!!! Nearly as long as the Dublin footballers have played a game away from Croke Park. I know you don't like me pointing out facts but you can always come up with some off the wall reason for this occurring.
Yes, players like playing in Croke Park but not against Dublin. Obviously because it's giving away home advantage. You didn't see Dunne calling for the game the other day being moved to Croke Park did you? Dessie Dolan said he'd have loved if their game against Dublin was in Mullingar.
Finally to your point in brackets "(though most top sides play there as much as Dublin do these days so its hardly any advantage to the metropolitans)." You're some joker.
I can go find out the stats and make a show of you again or you can accept that that sentence is nonsense.
you seem to have a keen insight into players and managers minds!
Why did the Wexford footballers last year give up home advantage and opt instead to play the Dublin footballers in Croke Park?

On a point of information, Wexford never ceded home advantage last year, the Leinster Council fixed the game for Croke Park. We would have loved to play the Dubs in Wexford.

Thank you Westmeath. If we beat Laois the next day at home we stay up. They are safe, so hopefully the lads can pull it off.

Wexford made the better start to the second half and then Daithi Waters handed us the initiative by striking Heslin in front of the linesman. He had been needling at him all game, wasn't getting the reaction he was hoping for and in the end lost the rag himself. Heslin is a targeted man now and has been working at this aspect of his game. Doesn't react to the needling anymore while at the same time standing up for himself. If he continues to develop at this rate he will be to Westmeath what Dermot Early was to Roscommon.

Heslin struck Waters when is back was turned in the first half (he scored a point immediately afterwards as Waters was still on the ground). That was the reason for the needle. As far as I know the video evidence showed that the linesman was looking into the crowd when Water's pushed Heslin, hence none of the officials actually saw the incident. Crazy sending off. You can see why Pat Flanning said it wasn't a red card.

A bit of a disaster for us to cough up a lead like that. Seems like we totally fell away in the last ten minutes, any reports on the game lads?

Wexford 1-02
Longford 1-07

Longford had a middling breeze in first half. Michael Quinn having great game for Longford

Ye must be sickened. We were 9 points down at one stage. First 30 minutes of the game were some of the worst I've seen Wexford play in the last 10 years. Absolutely brutal stuff. Just glad the Bardon an Kavanagh weren't playing. Ye found it nearly impossible to score against the wind in the second half and missed some fairly handy frees too. We started to dominate around the middle of the park and Ben Brosnan kept banging over the frees. The goal sealed it then. Great result for us but an awful performance.

Tipperary might prefer to play the match in hurling format.
I'd give us a great of beating Wexford in this one.

Premier what's the story with Barry Grogan? Is he injured?
Barry Grogan went to the USA before the start of the Munster Championship.  Was a big loss for the Kerry game in Thurles.

Thanks, an excellent player, glad he wont be around from a Wexford perspective

Wexford choked, that game was there if they wanted it, kicked 14 wides that I counted plus about 4 or 5 short balls as well.

Not easy kicking points when you've the AI champs defending against you. Choked my arse. Dublin in second gear won (again) against an inferior team.

The choke was bigger than that but nothing worse than a sore winner.

Funny you said the same thing when we beat you again last year with 14 men.

In the last six games Dublin have played Wexford we've won by an average of 7.5 points. At some point Dublin should be given credit as a superior team.

Supporters of All Ireland champions insecure about Wexford footballers, you couldn't make it up. I'm guessing we should be chuffed

3 years in row that Dublin have played 'in second gear' against Wexford. Only one team choked today and it wasn't Dublin.

Who won all three games?

What was the result of the other two games between the two sides?

Dublin in second gear apparently, if you want all the results this is a good place to start http://www.gaa.ie/fixtures-and-results/historical-results/

Sickened. The game was there to be won and we blew it. Wide after wide in the second half. That's 3 years in row we had the Dubs on the rack and couldn't put them away. It will be tough picking ourselves up for the qualifiers, please don't let us get Longford again...
