Group 1 is a lottery as to who comes second along with Slashers.

Group 4 is too evenly balanced for comfort.

In the other two groups, I'd have said there are two obviously stronger and two obviously weaker teams.

don't agree with the assessment of group 1, i think drumlish will definitely come 2nd.
killoe and mostrim to cruise into the quarters along with dromard and colmcille, with abbey and mullinalaghta to get through group 4, clonguish are on a downward spiral.

i wonder what kind of footballer plays with kilkenny? do they train hard or really care? or is it a case of curiosity for a club hurler that would like to see what county level looks like. I know the great DJ played football for them one day against wexford.
the beatings they get from carlow and the likes makes me wonder.

could make for an interesting book or documentary that!

longford have never beaten roscommon for as long as i can remember and i cant see that changing this weekend im afraid

Looks like we will be missing a number of players including our main scorer Shine & with home advantage it's a great chance for Longford to get there first win over the Rossies.

have we actually never beaten ye?  :(

we are missing both of our main forwards - kavanagh and francis mcgee so i think shine's absence wont effect ye too much

We hope Mickey's strong faith, and his family's, will somehow find him the strength and wherewithal to deal with something very few of us will have to experience. He'll find no end of comfort from those around him and beyond. John McAreavey and his own family's plight can often be forgotton in media reports. We can only hope he can find some method of coping to get through the immediate future. Unimaginable grief, anger and bewilderment.

well said.

something like this i'm sure would test the most devout of men's faith, hopefully it helps him cope

Supposed team for O'Byrne Cup vs. Kildare:

James McKenna (Seán Connollys); Dermot Brady (Longford Slashers), Barry Gilleran (Longford Slashers), Gerard Farrell (Ardagh); Declan Reilly (Colmcille), Enda Williams (Clonguish), Shane Mulligan (Mullinalaghta); John Keegan (Mullinalaghta), Niall Mulligan (Longford Slashers); David Barden (Clonguish), Joe McCormack (Killoe), Paul Kelly (Longford Slashers); Seán McCormack (Killoe), Paddy Dowd (Clonguish), JJ Matthews (Mullinalaghta).

The Bull is away in the States for a few months, wee Frankie is still recuperating, and the Lost Sheep is otherwise engaged. Podgie Berry got his visa extended last month and won't be back any time soon.

can't say i've ever heard of these 2, take it they are young lads??

On what basis has Pat Spillane to be making up catagories for awards? He was a good player on a very good team who pissed through All-Irelands when the rest of the counties were slugging pints and eating frys as pre match routines. That rag Sunday world have given the p***k a platform which has just fuelled his ego. The saddest part was when RTE allowed him present the Sunday Game. We was bloody awful.. a giant leprachaun on speed.
At least Paul Galvin likes him, hmmm wonder why.

ffs, spillane is easily one of the greatest players of all time and his style of play meant that he would have been great in any era

He's a man who's very troubled - everyone is against him as far as he is concerned. I think it works for him on the football pitch as it's probably very easy to fire yourself up when you think everyone is against you. However in the rest of his life it'll cause him problems I would think.

Mattie Forde and Tomas O'Se to name but two have had a fair amount of "trial by television" and you don't see them going on tv raising all these problems.

I have no great problem with the guy - like I said before he's a very good footballer - however he does come across very troubled and I'm not sure he'd have the personality for a media career.

I have no idea whether he does or doesn't do any charity work but in the scheme of him as a footballer or him as a media personality it doesn't matter one iota.

mattie got everything he deserved, probably warranted more for the disgusting act which he did. he would have no right to complain

Yes, it should be commerated but we can do without aresholes like you (funtime Frankie) lecturing us. If you want something commerated you don't go about it with the  "do it or else you are a west brit" attitude that republican-fascists like you employ.

oxymoronic

I don't think, by their job titles, these guys are qualified just yet but I may be wrong. If not, it's hard to change training firm in the middle of it without a valid explanation for your new employer.
Senior Associates? That sounds like management to me.

so you didn't work for the big 4 then  ::)

awful couple of weeks there for the club. i am still stunned as to how we lost out on the league - drawing with carrickedmond!! believe it or not that has put a huge downer over the club even after the championship.

we could have taken garrycastle, certainly had the chances near the end (smith's free was extremely difficult but we had others). they were the better team but i think had it been a draw we would have taken them the 2nd day. i can't see them going any further though, way too reliant on dessie dolan. and then our u21s get hammered in the 1st round.

here's hoping the leader cup goes a bit better!!

Player who is fouled has to take his own free kick.

ah yes because that won't promote cynical fouling at all when a corner back finds himself in a scoring position......  ::)

I've often kicked frees from further out, against the wind and up a hill.

Yes but how wide were they?

How wide can a point be   ???

he said he kicked them, not that he scored them  ;)

this will be an absolute disaster unless they use common sense and have the game over the next time ball goes out of play after the hooter goes
