I think the offer is to stop him leaving now. As they need cover until summer. Him signing a new deal doesn't mean he won't leave in summer.

That makes no sense.

I always remember back in 1995. Cole was signed, Mark Hughes got injured next match and out for a few weeks. While out injured, he signed a new 2 year deal. Hughes still left that summer.

Same sort of thing. The new deal thing means nothing. It's just a ruse to try to be seen keeping all parties happy, while behind the scenes everyone knows Young (like Hughes) will leave.

He is leaving the summer. Improved wage offer was to keep him from going now with the defensive injuries Utd have.

Say what you want about him he seems to be one of a few that seems to give a f**k in that squad but that is where Utd are.

Word is he isn't accepting the new contract and wants to leave now.

Great news. He shouldnt have been offered a new one in first place. Good riddance. The fact he is the club captain is the embarrasing part.

Cameron Borthwick Jackson being recalled from his loan at Tranmere.

He had 2 league appearances for Tranmere who ply their trade 3rd from the bottom in League One.

He's hardly being recalled to boost the squad?

Boycey

Anyone with United in their heart should have a read of that thread

That's how bad things are. I'd say Ole realises the gimps aren't going to buy any players for him.

I think the gimps have already decided to sack Ole. Apparently he has been told if they don't beat Norwich he's gone. I'd guess they'll then bring in Pochettino and sign a couple of players and all the idiots will be delighted. Until they don't buy anyone in the summer and we're here again this time next year in the same position.

Moyes was overawed by the club so I wasn't against him being sacked.

LVG got transfers wrong, his approach was outdated and the football was constipated but he gave it everything and I felt he was harshly treated.

Mourinho should never have been appointed. He didn't get the club and it was all about him. The football was awful as his usually is. He stopped doing his job and quit. Should never have been there.

Ole has had 8 or 9 months as permanent manager including only one transfer window. I wrote at length about what I thought earlier this week. It hasn't been brilliant but the facts are that United are closer to making the CL places than they were last year at this time. His biggest problem is not enough players which surely must be down to the owners and Woodworm. Sacking him now makes zero sense when they've clearly refused to back him. I can almost understand them not backing Mourinho when he had bought two centre halves the previous year yet was looking for more but in the current situation, not buying players if effectively constructive dismissal. And they're doing this because of the supporters which is the saddest thing. Our own supporters are getting a club legend the sack and are and have done SFA about getting rid of the poisonous cnuts that own the club. That's what grates with me. Ole may not be the man to bring the glory back but sacking a guy who loves the club and has given us so many great days because so called United supporters have turned on him - a new low for me.

United are never getting rid of the Glazers....ever. Unless the Saudis or Qatari or whoever in the Middle East needs an insurance policy at a ridiculously overrated price. The prior twitter link is....well, why would you leave the club. They are completely bleeding Utd, perhaps to death.

Boycey

Where have the United fans turned against Ole and are trying to get him the sack? In my opinion the fans never really turned on any of the guys who have had the job since Fergie.... Internet chatter doesn't count

You clearly don't understand how this works. The reason the club is valued so highly is because of the massive revenue and profit making ability it has demonstrated year after year. One of the world's top 2 or 3 repeatedly. And unlike the other top 2 or 3 have shown a remarkable ability to generate revenue and profits without on pitch success. The club has hundreds of millions of supporters all over the world. This is where the revenue is directly or indirectly generated from. The Glazers have played these people for fools since they've arrived. Sack a manager and buy a player when there's disquiet and roll on raping the club.

Sacking a club legend is not the answer but will appease many idiots who'll continue to buy the jersey, click the likes etc to help these mercenaries run the club into the ground. It disgusts me to be brutally honest about it.

Sadly though in the world of business which is all the gimps are concerned with "Internet chatter" as you call it is as important as the match going red. I could be mistaken but I seem to detect much more negativity towards Ole than for example the previous manager.

Match going supporters have by been a credit during difficult times it should be said.

Forgive me, but I think it's you who might not understand on this occasion.

As you say, the fanbase is divided and there'll be many 'fans' who will buy the jersey still. So how do you expect these same supporters to somehow unite and indeed somehow try and force the Glazers out of the club.

This is not Newcastle United, who, incidentally still can't get rid of their owner despite being a much, much easier task

The cost of missing out on the Champions League is well documented, United have missed out now and multiple occasions. That has not stopped them, how do you suggest that fans get together in what would be a monumental alliance to try and force the owners of the club who are, as you say raping Manchester United to a cost that would make them look about selling, probably something in and around 500mil to 1b loss....lets just speculate.

I would suggest the true fans of United might be able to do something small, token like - probably some already are, not taking up season tickets and the likes, however United have made a rod for their own backs with their commercialisation, the tourist 'fans' are still going to prop up attendances, still going to buy the jersey as you say.

I don't see any set of circumstances that would force the Glazers to leave United, the money will keep rolling in as we both agree - by the time the casual fans pack it in to the cost, the club will likely be completely finished.
