Solid second half performance by NUIG  yesterday against a tough St Pats side. Galway just had too much class all round the park for them. Seamus Hennessy absolutely brilliant and Finian Coone reliable from frees and some nice scores from play.

Galway won it by a point in extra time.

Sounds like a cracking game. Have to say I fancied NUIG from the start of this competition, after seeing them against Dublin in the Walsh Cup. Very impressive team.

WIT beat UL 1-15 To 0-14

NUIG beat LIT 1-24 to 1-23 aet

two brilliant games, if i was a betting man id be puttin the savings on NUI to win tomorrow. they were just in a different class to any other team i saw today.

The first match was as good a game of hurling as you'll see all year. NUIG stuck John Lee on Joe Canning and Lee was outstanding. Probably helped that he knows Canning so well from Galway training. Probably marks him fairly regularly. Joe had a real off-day. He even missed a few frees he would normally put over blindfolded.

yeah canning was poor enough, he could have stolen it for them right at the end but he blazed over a 21yard free when LIT were 2 down. barry daly (nuig 12) hurled a storm at midfield
