It was a good Galway performance but would like to think there's another gear in them if they can get everyone fit at the same time.

Good to see Gleeson get away a few quick longer kicks outs in that first half which led to scores. Tierney & Comer are both brilliant fielders so will make a huge difference to Gleeson as long as he can be quick getting them off. A bit disappointed Galway didn't go after Derrys kickout more often but suppose they had a good lead and didn't need to take any chances.

D'Arcy is limited but he certainly has his uses, good fielder who can certainly kick a score and run all day but just wish he'd know when to get rid of the ball, there's an instance in every match when he's dispossessed far too easily.

Think it comes down to age. Younger folk won't be as familiar with he older theme and as children growing up listening to it, it will be the one you will prefer as it lives rent free in your subconscious.  Old one for me

It was always going to come down to the game with Roscommon, for Cavan, and that hasn't and won't change, but the hope was we'd arrive there without too many scars and some confidence remaining. Who knows now what to expect from them on any given day? We're hideously inconsistent, often within games never mind from one to another, very mentally fragile and too content with moral victories, as shown by leaving a win behind us versus Tyrone. Any small degree of momentum from that is now in shreds. Mayo might not turn out to even be all that good, that's the scary thing, with Dublin waiting to annihilate us in second gear at Breffni - a game supporters will now understandably stay away from in droves? You try not to lapse into too much negativity and I know we've a new manager etc. but with all the gurus and back room geniuses we have, how in the hell did Cavan go out and turn in a dreadful display like that?

Cavan do not have scoring forwards. They had one in Paddy Lynch and he is gone now. The rest remaining are Div3 standard forwards. We then try to set up to run hard from deep but in the case of Mayo and get scrores from midfield and half back, that is where Mayos strengths also lie so we were never going to out run them in that department. I was expecting to be well beaten. Most disappointing for me was the poor show on our own kick outs, even with the wind. That was unforgivable.

Cavan can put it up to a lot of teams but Mayo, Dublin, Kerry - big physical athletic teams, we will not compete with them. Most worrying for us is the total lack of quality coming through at underage (if you go by our results). One win for our U20s this year v Antrim (who were dire) and 2 wins for our Minors against Antrim and Fermanagh. When the Cillian Clarkes, Padraig Faulkners, Gerry Smiths hand up their boots we will be back slumming it in Div 3.

you know he is the WUM in cheif, Eire og, Kerry for Sam, Armagh 18, southe dublin bro, plus many others.
He has single handidly gone a long way to F*ucking up a serious GAA Blog.
Shame on moderators.
For the past 7-10 years, I would be inclined to come on here to see opinions on games V read the newspapers after a game. Not any more.
A lot of well minded bloggers unfortunately have done likewise.

I guess that's aimed at me, as the original comment was. Am not sure what I said that was so offensive as to warrant calling in the moderators. In fact what I said I believe to be true... but time will tell and I may have to eat my words.. or not.

Been yapping for years about how much he hates Harte. Went through a new name there but still the same sh!te.

I've said nothing personal about Harte so is hardly 'hate'. Seems to be a very touchy subject to suggest he wont lead Derry to the All Ireland. I wasn't on here previous but you tell yourself that...

Usually when a new poster goes straight in, no kissing its a fair old red flag

Then you have Harry Kane still waiting after all those minutes of action.

I thought you had  to play a certain amount  of games to get a medal. That was  the case for the  premier league anyway , not sure about  the cup competitions

5 games for a league medal but is there an exemption fot keepers.

There was a incident in the Derry Galway game were a Galway player in possession was "ushered" over the sideline by a couple of Derry players. McQullian pointed his flag in favour of the Galway player and indicated a pushing motion with this hands.  I didn't hear if the referee blew his whistle at this point but is it not the linesmans job to indicate which way the line ball is to go and he should not be calling the freekick??

The linesman will advise the ref on off the ball incidents, he will do the line and he may even stand in behind a free and help the umpire on a wide or a point call.. The ref alone decides, he can take advise, but it will be his call

It's his call yes, but the wording in the rule book has changed. Historically the linesman would have called lined decisions and off the ball stuff, but can now alert the ref to any incident the ref may not have seen on or off the ball

Will Klopp be deemed a successful manager,  Not a great soccer fan, but can only remember winning the premier league. Rescue them from the downward trajectary, will only remember the smile.

Paisley won more and transformed them into the best team in Europe, but Klopp's transformation of the club was second only to Shankly in scale.

He's definite top three and arguably top two in the greatest ever Liverpool managers.
