GAA Discussion / Re: NFL Division Four 2024

Laois full value for their win. Score flattered us. Their goalie was immense - played as a 3rd midfielder for most of the game. Scored 3 points and stopped at least one almost-certain goal.

Laois had a decent game plan. We had feck all.

The O'Byrne curse strikes us again.

I believe FAI made an approach.

Jurgen will be the next Irish manager.

(or maybe not)

Primetime are doing something tonight on GAA refs. A new organisation has been set up in Dublin. Kinda like a referees GPA.

Focus will be on violence and threats towards them and how the GAA can improve their lot.

They seem to lose their magical power when the spring arrives.

Way hay. Nothing stopping us now.

Back in the same place this day week. That's when it gets real

GAA Discussion / Re: Ground Naming Rights
January 16, 2024, 10:42:38 AM
Longford are hoping to change the naming rights of the County Grounds to Elon Musk Pearse Park in 2025.

We need 5 million for the Cinntir of Excellence that is planned for next door.

Quote from: thejuice on January 11, 2024, 10:08:25 PMWe have a challenge match against Galway on Saturday. Apparently CO'R is putting out a full strength team in that and will be playing a second string team against Longford. Allegedly anyway.

Easy pickings so.

Our 23rd meeting in the O'Byrne Cup. Longford's record v De Riyals is

6 wins, 2 draws and 14 defeats.

First time was 1954 when Meath won by 20 points. We put out a second string that day I am told.

This is going to be one hell of a Group.

I hope to get to most of the games. Not sure I have attended a football match in Waterford.

South of the Bann may be close - but I think Wexford are in the mix.
So for me it's Laois, Wexford and Longford (I hope) duelling it out for promotion.

With 4 home games and trips to Laois, Waterford and Wexford it will certainly be a Magical Mystery Tour.

Quote from: Shamrock Shore on January 06, 2024, 09:52:42 PMFeck it. I'm not heading to Ashbourne on a Fri evening. I'll watch on Clubber.

Meath will win handy  :D

Don't know, Longford are kings of January football. We won't be taking it lightly.

Ha!  ::) A title we wrestled off the Kildare Flourbags.

No - some official X accounts have the game on Fri in Ashbourne. Got feckin soaked there last year.
