GAA Discussion / Kildare v Longford LSFC - 26th May 2016 Tullamore

Ok - Leinster championship beginning to bubble up nicely ........LOL
I was away last weekend so I missed things but it seems Kildare struggled to beat Wicklow.
We are fighting light with missing/suspended players so I cannot see us pulling off a win here.
But............you never know. If we win then it's Nowhere this year for Kildare, as opposed to Newbridge. We cuda/shuda won the Qualifier last year but we simply ran out of petheral.

Learned something new today.
The carbon monoxide detectors we have in the house expired over 2 years ago. I never realised they had an expiry date. Thought they'd be the same as smoke alarms - change the battery when it started beeping annoyingly and bob's your mother's brother.
So, if your house does have carbon monoxide detectors make sure they are not expired.
That is all.

Longford won their first NY Senior Championship last night in NY beating Monaghan by a point.
Longford's star performer was one Jamie Clarke, hitherto unknown, from Armagh.
He could have a future if McGeeney plays his cards right
Here is the rising star with Brian Kavanagh of both sides of the Atlantic fame.

"Delighted to announce that we will be 1 of the 6 teams taking part in the @officialgaa inaugural #WorldSeries where the 6 teams play a weekend tournament on 5 continents after the All Ireland final Official announcement 2moro."

I remember it well in a sense. Longford hosting the mighty Kerry (Kerry waived home advantage). At this time the League had QFs. Top 4 in Div 1, Top 2 in Div 2 and winners of Div 3 and Div 4 (or it could have been Div 3 North and Div 3 South)
But isn't memory terrible. There was I, thinking in my memory (having not seen it since 1984), that it was marvellous fare.
But, fcuk me, it's dreadful now that I see it again. It's a lump-a-thon on a dreadful pitch in a dreadful dank park with dreadful miserable looking people. We took an early 1-04 to 0-00 lead but Kerry reeled us in. Paidi was playing but, by all accounts, he was still hungover from going on the tear the night before.

Folks
As we all get older it's time for those who haven't been looking after themselves to do so before it's too late.
Haemochromotosis can be a silent assailant. It's a high level of iron in the blood that, over time, will damage the liver and ultimately lead to liver failure
It's estimated that perhaps 1:5 of the Irish population carry the gene - so in some quarters it's know as the Irish or Celtic curse.
I was diagnosed in 2011 - well before any damage was done so I keep a constant eye on iron levels by having blood tests and getting 'drained' maybe once/twice a year.
So if you are in doubt go the GP/doctor and ask for the test and check your iron levels. Before it's took late.
Lots of information out there - I won't post any links.

While the fixtures list will be out soon it has emerged that there will be no Colleges/Uni sides in the mix from 2018 onwards.
I welcome this return to the traditional format. None of your fancy dan United Nations 'students' diluting what is the greatest GAA competition of them all.
Wonder will the 'Bihatimber' competition be resurrected as well now?
