GAA Discussion / Crimewatch Scam & Dubs
June 15, 2010, 10:40:45 PM
Dont suppose any1 seen Crimewatch on BBC this evening? They were looking at scams where women in England were transferring large sums of money into bank accounts of chaps they thought were in long distance "relationships" and were actually being scammed, and Crimewatch set up meetings with these guys in Ghana. And 1 of the locals that turned was wearing a Dublin Jersey!  8)

The way he ran out of the room when they found out they were sussed maybe Gilroy will be on the phone!

For what its worth Onthe40, At the minute you could write off Carmen for any honours (at your peril I know but cant see them pulling together in time) and looking for new managers next year.

Clonoe could be worth a punt, although not for the league.

Errigal and Fianna are young and if dont do anything this year will def be there or thereabouts  next year, especially Errigal if PTG is still there.

Moy just wont be good enough come the business end.

Dromore will definitley get their act together and have to be favourites to retain the O'neill Cup.

PS: I dont see Arboe being mentioned alot

I can't believe I'm reading this - have you anything to say about the "treatment" he got, particulary from his direct marker ?

He wasn't going to "do" anybody when he got wrecked.

Justin Mc Mahon ended up with concussion and a few stitches to a head wound.

Donegal crossed the line a good few times.

I honestly can't believe I'm reading this. Not shocked that an Armagh man would come out with this but a Tyrone poster ??????   ??? :o

Jaysus man im only stating the facts. He did try to "do" a Donegal man at 1 stage in the 1st half. All im saying in he has to be 1 of the worst tackler on the team, which has been 1 of our strong points since Harte took over.

As for the treatment he got, again did you not see the treatment Justy, and then Joe, gave young Murphy, when they scored the goal Joe had him pinned to the ground in a rugby tackle. Rose tinted glasses and all that, at least try to be objective. I watched the game again last nite, poor enough, but if SON had to have stayed on, i think we could have strolled it.

i would usually defend SON but the above liverpool leg-end has a point (marginally) SON was relatively lucky to stay on the pitch for the incident to happen. If a defender (Ricey) tackled high and late like him they would be lined. In the 1st half he completely took a Donegal player out of it with the ball away from him and he looked at the man and never even tried to get the ball. He has got the upper body strength to tackle properly, jaysus even Penrose tackles better than him.

Anyway i hope hes back soon cos we need him

What time is the throw-in tomorrow nite?

I think Carmen have more to play for tomorrow night, EC winning would be a bonus for a young team in transition, whereas Carmen's outside management may get a stay of execution if they win a bit of silverware.

As long as the referee isnt the main talking point!  ::)

Sorry this may have been already dealt with but is league final still on tomorrow nite in Omagh?

Who do youse think will win? Seen both playing this year and Errigal play better football but not sure if they can handle Carmen

Fairly entertaining game in Clonoe last nite. Suppose Carmen were the more clinical in front of goal, and the goals killed off the gaem as it left too much for Clonoe to do to get back into the game.

Id say Carmen are 2 / 3 players away from being serious contenders but you cant rule them out. I didnt think Clonoe played that bad, they definitely stepped it up in the 2nd half and they throw the ball about well, and are very fit.

Carmen half back got straight red a minute from the end and no-one around seen what happened, seemed strange, would that rule him out of the championship?

Armagh / Re: Armagh Club football & hurling

Tyroneboi, found out last nite Tullysarn are being managed by a boy Quinn from Moortown, played a bit for Moortown, he applied for the Moortown managers job and they wouldnt even interview him, as hes a bit of a header (slaphead was the exact word that was used), and he goes and lands the club in Armagh. More dollars than sense Im told. ;)

Smokey Joe, I believe 1 of their players that played against us was Armagh minor captain last year, and colleges all-star.

Must keep an eye on irish news to see how they get on in their league/championship

Played friendly today against as team from Armagh, Tullysarn (i think thats how you spell it). What would they be like? Our reserves played them and beat them by 1point. They were beating us well at halftime but they had a gale force wind, which we had in the 2nd half. I thought they were average enough with a handful of handy players and a 7ft monster standing in full-forward!

Fella marking me reckoned they were pushing to win the championship this year, and that they should win it
