The Real Slim Shady vanished from the GAA Board earlier in the year but came back in March, in that time he has posted the grand total of 11 times, but he can still be spotted lurking. The last few posts have been banal, and that is being generous, where has the vitriol gone? where has the frequent use of the "c word" gone? Would the Real Slim Shady please stand up.........

Eight killed in Nebraska shooting

Police have sealed off the Westroads Mall shopping centre
At least eight people have been killed after a gunman opened fire in a shopping centre in the US state of Nebraska, police say.
A further five people were said to have been wounded in the shooting, at the Westroads Mall in Omaha.

There were reports that the gunman had turned the gun on himself, though this was not confirmed by police.

Police sealed the exits and emergency workers were seen ferrying stretchers into the building.

Customers hid

There have been differing accounts of the incident.

According to one report, the gunman shot people at random from a balcony in the shopping centre.

Others said the shooting appeared to have taken place in the Von Maur department store.

Keith Fidler, a Von Maur employee, said he heard a burst of five to six shots followed by 15 to 20 more shots.

A worker from another shop said customers and employees were huddled in a storeroom.

"All we know was people were running and screaming down the hallway by Von Maur saying there was a shooting, and then [police] locked us down," she said.

Earlier in the day, President George W Bush had been in Omaha for a fundraiser, but he left the city before the shooting occurred.

US daredevil Evel Knievel dies

Legendary US daredevil Evel Knievel has died at the age of 69, his granddaughter has said.
Knievel had suffered ill-health, including diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis - an incurable lung condition - for several years.

He underwent a liver transplant, after nearly dying of hepatitis C, in 1999.

Knievel gained cult status performing death-defying stunts in the 1960s and 70s, including an attempted motorcycle jump over Snake River Canyon in Idaho

Lads i think most people agree it is a bit pricey at the moment, £269 then your monthly fee. How long before it comes down in price and do you think its worth the outlay at the minute? The lack of 3G is seen as a bit of a drawback.

Officer shot during disturbances

A police officer has been shot during loyalist violence in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, police have said.
The victim was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A second man, a civilian, has also been taken to hospital after a serious assault. His condition is unknown.

Police arrested three men under terrorist legislation after stopping a car near the incident, which happened in Castlemara estate on Saturday night.

Officers were called after reports that a large crowd had gathered in Castlemara Drive at about 2230 BST.

It is believed the incidents are connected to tensions in the loyalist community in south east Antrim.

Police in the town are appealing for anyone with information about any of the incidents to contact them.
