Mitch glitching again yesterday - 2nd time in a month.
Really need to implement term limits in politics.
They have a minimum age - there should be a maximum one too.

How in the name of Jaysus can he not be told to step down. I know it's not great here but in the USA there are some amount of aul crayturs in powerful positions over there.

Don't get me started on Dianne Feinstein. They say she doesn't even know what day of the week it is. She roars at her staff for doing stuff that she asked them to do but she forgot about it, or for not doing things she never asked them to do. She's away with the fairies, and she's refusing to retire even though she's been holding up important votes with her inability to function.

Is there no mechanism in place to allow the Dems or even the people of California to force her out on account of incapacitation and an inability to represent them?

There's starting to be a few murmurings this week as well, on account of McConnell, that the Dems should start seriously looking at a real primary challenge to Biden.

I saw one proposal of a Whitmer/Warner (Sen-GA) ticket.

These episodes McConnell is suffering are bizarre and freaky to look at. He had a fall earlier in the year, so maybe it's related. But surely he needs to take a leave of absence to get sorted out?
Life expectancy has increased enormously in the last 30 years as smoking has been phased out, amongst other things.
The absence of Senate term limits does not reflect the fact that years of life quality has not moved in parallel.

Trump saying "there is no way he would lose California in a real election", a state that has been the solidest of blues in Presidential elections for decades.

Before 2016 this sort of comment would have been laughed at by everyone in both sides.

He has perverted US politics to such extremes that his nonsense, no matter how outlandish or even dangerous, is just routine, mundane background noise at this point.

He came out last week saying General Mattis should be executed, and it barely made any news, never mind headlines.

Every day there is something that would end any other person's political career on its own, but it never seems to damage his standing with his base. They just seem to love him more because he hates the right people.

I've been critical and contemptuous of Kevin McCarthy on many occasions for his naked, shameless, craven pursuit of power, but it seems there is still a modicum of dignity and realism in there. When it came down to it, he pushed through a bipartisan solution to keep the government lights on for another month and faced down the nihilist trolls like Gaetz.

It may end up costing him his job, at least until the GOP see there is no one else (or unless he makes a deal with the Dems to support him).

Wonder does McCarthy think it was worth the sale of his dignity and soul to Trump and his minions, after all is said and done?

First speaker ever deposed. And after only nine months.

Colorado supreme court rules Donald Trump will not be on the ballot for the next president election.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

"A majority of the court holds that President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of president under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution," the court wrote in a 4-to-3 ruling. "Because he is disqualified, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Colorado Secretary of State to list him as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot

This does rather put the cat among the pigeons.
