General discussion / Re: soccer quiz questions

Sorry, haven't been on this this thread in a long time but happened upon it there. Is Paolo Sousa the Champions League winner?

Also, the morbid part of me wants to know who the other dead player is...

For the England captains one, think it is the Southampton team with Kevin Keegan, Peter Shilton, Mick Mills, Alan Ball et al. The other three captains would be Mark Wright, Dave Watson and Mick Channon.

General discussion / Re: That European question

I think that question about British winners of the European Cup is well off the mark. McManaman, Lambert and Hargreaves are fair enough, but Keegan played in a final for Hamburg and lost, and was at Southampton by the time they won it in 1983. Wilkins never won it, Archibald lost in the final to Steaua Bucharest.
I think the three mentioned might be the only correct answers.

GAA Discussion / Re: Best Derry footballer since 1980

The most natural footballer I've seen in the last 30 years was Leo Sweeney who played for Coleraine. That he didn't play forthe county and indeed win an Allstar was a quirk of geography, although playing in the shadow of Jack Daniels didn't help either. A real shame, although he is still turning out for the odd five minutes for the club and changing games. True legend that is never talked about.

One of the following two:

This is the One by The Stone Roses or Here I go Again by Whitesnake.

Jaysus that last one got the blood pumping in the late 80s.
