Speaking to a man there about the Tailteann cup. So in theory, Antrim could make it all the way to the final which is 13th July. This would mean that there would be a good handful of players that won't have kicked a single league ball for their clubs over 15 games? Is this correct? And potentially may only get a couple of championship group games if their club doesn't progress? Jesus Christ the system is well and truly broken.

In successful counties that was/is common enough over the years with the various different formats they used.

So do we want a successful county team or a successful club team?

If a club player believes they can win an All Ireland with their club over the county then they might throw their lot behind the club. Antrim for whatever reason, club is king

Is it?  One obvious club possibly but the remainder get behind the Saffs surely?   

Do we though? Do we really commit to what's needed at the top table? Or do we collectively not have good footballers?

Because if we do have good footballers then we need to get them up to that level of physical fitness that we see from teams at Div 1. Seeing lads from other counties coming off the pitch in regards to ours is night and day.

Gone are the days of the stylish but light footballers, that we had many of in the past, that just doesn't count anymore. Size strength are up their with skill and application

The problem is it takes a good few years to develop a player into that type, sticking to it, is very hard.

Thought I'd kept it at an acceptable level by not detailing what I'd heard - but happy to remove if others feel that's over the line.

A woman past away, few months back, had fallen when she got home after feeling unwell and past away.

With regards to Casement if that's the interview he gave, I did hear him on radio Ulster but not sure if it was him or Joel .. Look he can't believe himself that the amount that Croke is willing to give is the same amount that was agreed at the start (or thereabouts) considering how its been fucked up by parts of the association

Yeah, seems totally mad.  Antrim start their leagues very early in comparison to other counties.  Maybe the solution is to start the leagues later?

That would be the obvious thing to do. Div 1 League is basically just a friendly competition at the minute. Any Div 2 or 3 team with a few county players would be at a massive disadvantage for their league. The difference in getting promoted and not!

It's only a friendly competition (DIV 1) until relegation time and then the waterworks come out 

A ref once told me that a goalkeeper from a kickout can kick it more than once. So technically the keeper could just dribble the ball soccer style up the field from a kickout but he is not allowed to lift it.
Any of the resident referees able to confirm this?

That's true but once it leaves the 21 he can be dispossessed (legally)

So the reason you don't see it is because keepers are generally keepers for a reason, dribbling their food is about the height of their skills at dribbling

When no in 'control' of the ball it can be bounced all the way up the pitch, same as if a player in a tackle momentarily loses possession of the ball and regains it he's not recatching it, even though he 'had' it

Its vague and ultimately down to the ref to call and the players/sideline/supporters to give off

I'd someone complain recently about player not being 13m from the ball and collecting it, he was claiming for a hop ball, I gave the free and of course, but, I was questioned throughout the game. This was a manager!

When they make people do the coaching courses do they do a rules test?

I would love to see some lad dribbling basketball style up the field and burying the ball into the back of the net.

The reason you don't see it is because he'd be tackled, the ball is more exposed, thus making it easier.

This does bring about some moans from the sidelines with cries of double bounce

I've never seen a goalie give away a penalty before for a technical foul.

Was the overcarrying all in the small square?

Maybe he was saying that the GAA is in a good position (financially) and talk of using streaming services such as GAAGO is not really a big revenue builder?

What are the figures on money brought in by GAAGO?

A lot of people will use a stick to watch GAAGO, so a lot of money being lost there, would promoting it more via the networks TG4 (who have been a winter lifeline) and RTE give the GAA more revenue through raised numbers in GAA membership and whatever add on that brings.

As for saying that we only used to see one or two games a week back in the day, that horse has bolted a long time ago, the premier league in soccer people were saying its more diluted with the amount of games they show, but I'd say figures for interest worldwide for soccer and the premier league gets bigger.

GAA matches have been behind a paywall forever. Even before TV we always had to pay to get in to watch a game live. Why do people expect to get every game beamed into their houses for free but have to pay for the privilege of travelling half the country to watch it live? Maybe we have it arse about face, perhaps we should make it free to get in the ground at all games at every level but put every match on tv behind a paywall.

It's about promoting the game too in fairness, so if you can get all the games why not show them off?
