Doddie Weir 52

It's a desperate illness

Awful  :( Seems to have hit people with higher profile so getting much more coverage which is great to see. Kevin Sinfield is getting some coverage for it. I suppose anto finnegan more locally increased the coverage of it here. RIP.

Think he was there at half time in the Rubgy league final last week, went downhill very quick past 2yrs.

Rob Burrows is the rugby league player. Kevin Sinfield is doing the running to raise funds.

Doddie Weir was at the Scotland-NZ match a few weeks ago and looked like he was in the final throes of his life. What an absolutely horrible bastard of a disease. RIP.

Had the pleasure of a few beers in his company back in 1994 - a gent

That MND is a frightening disease. I was watching a video of the higher profile guys who had it and there was a high profile fella (rugyb league maybe?) who'd just got it and was being interviewed along with Weir, Burrow and one or two others. It was so sad seeing it as the guy could see in front of his eyes the impact of the disease and what was ahead of him  :(

Wilko Johnson.

And very sorry to hear this. An absolute legend of the punk and post punk era. Any excuse to play this absolutely blinding performance by Dr Feelgood on the Old Grey Whistle Test.

Magnificent documentary entitled The Ecstasy of Wilko Johnson available on YouTube. Follows him in year of his diagnosis and subsequent lifesaving op. Oil City Confidential also great film on Dr Feelgood with input from all four, though made after Lee Brilleaux's death. RIP Wilko.
