2010
Meath 5-9 Dublin 0-13

11 point margin on paper but worth 50 points in the minds of Meathmen.

Then there was
2008
Limerick 4-12 Meath 4-3

This game is still worn like a scar. Only for Joe scoring 3 goals at the death to prevent mortal wounding.

Was that latter game played on a saturday, think I was in clones for some reason that same day. Anywho I had backed meath in accumlator and could not believe the score. I think ian ryan went to town that day if I mind right!!

He scored 3-07 or something like it.

So bad that Colm Coyle walked away from it almost as soon as the final whistle went.

I think there is still an inquest going on in regards to what happened.

Allegedly Coyle stopped the bus on the way down sent the lads off round a race track to run the shite out of them about 3 hours before throw in as a lesson for losing to Wexford. Didn't go down well with the panel.

Allegedly.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

Losing teams always use that excuse!

Ah well, we'll always have Meath 2-14 Kerry 0-5, 2001.

And who knows what's to come.

I mind Monaghan giving Laois a good seeing to in the last game of the league a few years ago in Portlaoise; 4-16 to 0-8 I think. It was tight at the top of Division 2 at the time and was probably going to go down to score difference so we went to town on them and were 3-12 to 0-3 up at half time if I remember correctly.

Also, back in 2003 Derry beat Monaghan in the league 4-15 to 0-7.

A few weeks later Monaghan went out and beat the All-Ireland Champions Armagh in the first round of the Ulster Championship.

Funny how it turns round isn't it?

Haven't a clue.
Maybe someone who knows more about these things could find out. It'd be interesting to see.

Mind watching that game in house. An oul wet day, armagh were shoe-ins (apparently!!)

Paul Finlay made his championship debut that day and sent over a couple of monster frees from outside the 45m line in the second half.

For a county that had done nothing in my life-time (can't remember the '80s) that was one of the best days supporting Monaghan. And I nearly didn't go coz of the weather only my two younger brothers plagued me to bring them.

Good times!!!

I was watching a repeat of the Kerry/Dublin 2009 game and was thinking of the worst inter-county hidings. I think there were a few in 2001.

Any over 20 points at inter-county level?

Was that a snippet from and interview Gormley gave this week ?  ;)

Kerry hammering us in 2009, Tyrone hammering is in the rain....................and the Meath lads kicking the ball into the goal for fun

Still though the 2006 1 pt defeat to Mayo tops them all...........damn you to hell David Brady and your knee socks
