Hello,
Im interested in reading what techiques you use to get yourselves ready for a game? Are the methods different from league games to championship games?
thanks G
A big dump 30 mins before throw in.
Lot a boys seem to nip of to the loo to nip one off, its quiet time with yourself i suppose
Depends on your position too. A Keeper will mentally prepare for a game alot more different than a midfielder. Think about what you have to do today? What today means? Ask yourself lots of questions etc..
In my day a slug of poitin usually got me going.
Plenty of water on board. Make sure the cage is emptied.
Try not to let the game take over your thinking. Read the papers, watch the box, get to mass
Few butterflies are ok but if your a ball of nerves your fucked. Remember its another game, but be positive, be cocky, and concentrate on what you can control, your own performance!
for me there are a number of things i would do:
as our games are on a friday evening, i am usually working that day so i have plenty to do to keep me from thinking about the game, but i try to drink as much fluid as possible, as well as eating plenty of fruit etc. if it is on a saturday or sunday, i just try to make it as normal a day as possible, and try to keep my mind from the game.
then when travelling to the game, i try to visualise what might happen in it, what i would do under different situations, and just try to relax myself as much as possible. then closer to game time (sorry, i know that is cheesy) i try to listen to some loud music, usually some heavy metal or rock music, to try and bring the blood to the boil, and by that stage i would be on the pitch, and it is go from then on!!
Thump the guy beside me in the jaw. If he's able he returns the compliment. Always works a treat for me
