Well lads its early enough I know but is there any word on who's going where this year?
Not to ignore you question because I haven't heard yet.........
but,
where is the Sigerson Cup being held in 2009?
Tir Eoghain Philadelphia
Started in 1949
Folded in 2008
Now amalgamated with the Four Provinces GAC Philadelphia---who compete in the New York Senior Championship
Queens will still have Vernon & Courtney, not bad for a start.
St Marys will have Gareth O Neill - great bonus.
The transfer market is open!

Is Gareth O'Neill on the armagh senior panel?
Think so, played in league a few times.
How much is on offer ? ;)

Anything you want for the poly!
Suppose we'll have to wait to see if the poly applicants pass their pe exam a level?
Or if TJ can swing them in anyway!!
Any word then?
think i heard chrissy mc kaigue is for ucd
The poly have upped the appearance money - Queens are going to table improved offers this week ! ;)
surely to god someone should know who is where by now?
i think il put my money on queens this year.
anybody know if any of the tyrone minors are at uni??
Heard yer man Murphy from Donegal was bound for the ranch until he failed the leaving cert.
Sure it doesn't matter cuz the freshers cant play sigerson now anyway!!

wrong, that rule only refers to the larger colleges like UUJ and QUB. The ranch could hardly field teams at sigerson and seconds level without freshers.
Are you sure of that Old Bill? Will Sligo IT be able to play freshers in Sigerson? Its just that there are a few Sligo u-21's starting there this year and I would like to see how they would develop with the Sigerson panel.
Where's the weekend being held this year?

I have seen this in the paper. Would hardly be fair on the smaller colleges to ban freshers from playin senior would it?

Should it not be the same rule for all teams participating?
Think it was an article in this weeks gaelic life. I could be mistaken. It is my belief that there is a limit on the amount of years that a post grad student can play for.

It's on in CIT and the fresher rule is a bit complicated. As far as I know all colleges are debarred from playing freshers in the Sigerson but you can apply for exemptions which will be granted to colleges who couldn't field a team otherwise.

For the likes of the ranch maybe..
Quotecolleges who couldn't field a team otherwise
Murky waters there....
Probably applies across the board, isn't necessarily going to destroy too many colleges, but as Seanie said it'd be no harm to see some of the younger lads progress, freshers won't do that too much IMO. And the IT's glory days are gone now so there won't be too many more Sigerson weekends for the Ballinode crew to look forward to.
Queens looking good as they have most of their team from last year, a very strong defence.
Can't see jtown being as strong as there loosing most of the team
Queens bt UUJ 0-13 to 0-9 in Casement last night according to Irish News with Charlie Vernon giving a MOTM performance, any reports?
Ok match considering the conditions. James Kielt gave a masterclass in freetaking while Ciaran Dinnelly was very good at the other end. Courtney hit a fantastic free off the ground. Vernon and Courtney started to dominate in the second half and good movement from the Queens forward was the difference.
Joe O Kane took a bad knock and had to go to hospital but I think he got out last night.
Do either Queens or UUJ have an up to date website where you can see teams/squad etc?
Quite a good game for the winter's night it was i thought. for queens one of the corner backs, vernon, courtney, joe o'kane and crozier were good. both kielts were decent but McGolderick from derry was the best player on the park i thought. the ref was very good too i thought it was a tough, physical game i thought but played in a good spirit.

what was in his game that you felt seperated him from the rest on the pitch.
He just seemed to be everywhere. took a lot of ball off the half back line and played intelligent passes into the forwards. seems very cool and skillful in posession. first time i'd ever seen him play
Which corner back was good? Was it McBride from Derry?
i'm not sure - number 2 stood out. 4 was good as well but 2 a bit better.
I take it he means McGovern - he was on Donnelly and the two of them had a superb tussle. Donnelly hit 5, but four from frees and it broke about 50/50 overall.
Ref very good, let a lot go.

which mcgovern was that?
are you on about sean leo mc goldrick? Did James Keilt play for Queens last year?
