Congratulations to Cavans Paul Brady who won the Senior Singles All Ireland at the weekend.
He beat Corks Tony Healy in a tie breaker in the newly opened alleys in Abbeylara.
This win makes it 4 in a row and 5 in 6 years for the Mullahoran man, adding to the 5th doubles title he picked up with Michael Finnegan recently. Looking forward to the Hardball championship were he plays for the first time in 11 years. It hould be some match against Dessie Keegan from Ballaghadreen.

God luck to him.
He certainly is the one for the rest to catch at the moment. He's turning into a sort of Duxie, isn't he? I haven't been able to follow the championships as closely as I used to but I do try to follow the concluding stages in all senior grades.
One thing that surprises me is that the hardball competitions are still being staged. There can't be many now who play that game.
There is 11 in the senior singles this year but there seems to be a lot buzz about it.
There are lots of people talking about it.
Has Brady chucked the football altogether for Cavan or is he still on the panel?
Apparently it was one of his best performances, the game was over in 32 minutes!! He's actually gotten better instead of fading with age
He isnt involved this year with the footballers but well done again to him, hes become a handball legend at this stage
Paul Brady.....the DJ Carey/Gooch of handball....doesnt get enough credit or recognition.

Well, DJ Carey is kinda the DJ Carey of handball. ;)
DJ was and is a world class handballer, he was playing at the local alley here before the hurling had made him a star and my dad (who was competing in 40x20 Connacht finals into his early 50's) will always regale you with the sheer talent he had with the small (rubbery) ball when you mention his name.
Some achievement for an unreal athlete. How many All Irelands did Duxie Walsh win?
Only 34 next birthday. How many more can he win?
McCarthy can beat him on his day, a lot fancied him to do it today.
That Brady is still winning titles with an opponent as good as McCarthy around is testament to how much of an all-time great handball Brady is.

Mccarthy has never beaten Brady

In the 40x20 singles you mean? I thought that much would be obvious given the run.
The likelihood is that McCarthy will catch Brady at some point in the 40x20, though. That is unless someone else does - there's very little between the elite handballers these days and that only makes the magnitude of Brady's achievement even greater.
My point was that he cant beat him on his day, he only scored 26 aces in the last two All-Ireland finals.
Is Brady still competing as much as he did in America and at home?
Make that 5 in a row, he'll be playing for his club on Sunday in Breffni park too. Some man.
Paul Brady into the final of the world championships again tomorrow.
45 years old.
Incredible athlete.
Won it.
