Premier intermediate starting there tomorrow. Hard to imagine anyone but Castletown winning it.
Not a fan of the new restructuring of the senior championship affecting this level. Especially years such as this year where there is such a gulf in standard between the top team and the rest. Very possible a second team could get to final again.
I think Camross will be strong, but Clonaslee will be pushing hard for a final place and might just make it.
Reckon Colt/ Shanahoe are for the drop.
Next year it should be a right competitive championship w/ (presumably) Ballyfin back down.
I think camross will take a lot of lads up senior in the next few weeks.
Q when was the last time Clonaslee were senior? 80s?
They won the intermediate in the 90s I think and got to a few senior finals in the 00s with tinnahinch.
This grade is a bit done and dusted before it starts. Usually, the team relegated is pretty much going to go straight back up, and the senior teams 2nd teams usually doing ok or the opposite (depending on how many go up senior). Apart from Castletown the clubs who this is their 1st grade are Clonad, Clonaslee, Colt shanahoe, Mountmellick and non of them you would say have a chance of winning it, more of a chance of getting relegated.
With the senior gone to 10, I think it will just create a yo yo effect with the teams getting relegated from senior. I spoke before on another forum where senior teams second teams have their own competition, but I don't think we are a big enough county for that.
Anyway, prediction on competition
Castletown to win
Clonad and the losers of clough ballacolla & Colt Shanahoe in relegation battle

"If" Ballyfin get relegated, I don't think they'll go straight back up. It should be way more open next year.
Big wins for Castletown and Camross as expected, but less so the two-point win for Clonad over Clonaslee. Clonad came from behind and possibly should have won by more. Colt also beaten.
Ctown hit 7.25 from play.
Jesus that's is some trimming Castletown gave. I expected that to be a lot closer. Considering they got relegated and R/E got to the final last year. And only 2 points from placed ball.
Camross accounted for MM easily. MM be disappointed with that. Hard to know with CVamross how they do depending on if they lose any more lads, but a great start for them
C/B beat C/S by 3 points, seemed to be close enough all game. C/S in div 4 probably not helping them at this stage of the year. C/B lads playing at a higher level.
Fair play to clonad on getting the win, first year up. Clonaslee no world beaters, but I did fancy them to beat clonad.
Intermediate starting tonight and the junior A and taughts? Mrath v Trumrea. Sbloom v Bpickes. Aleix v Cbolla. Then in the junior. Rosenallis v Ctown Prt v Harps. Plaose v Bkill.
Only one of any interest, really, would be Mountrath v Trumera. Tipped Mountrath for that one, but Trumera are hoors - they always punch above their weight, (which is very light, numbers-wise). They fielded 13 at least once in the league. The few lads they do have coming through tend to be rather useful, however - a couple off the u20 panel, for example - and even the ones that aren't, they get the absolute most out of. You have to admire them, and I hope they can do it, but Mountrath might just sneak it.
PRT have to win the junior. Always feel that's another amalgamation that has failed, really - or maybe it was just a way of side-lining hurling so the respective clubs could get on with football? Either way, and unlike Trumera, they're punching way below their weight. Lose too many good youngsters from decent minor teams to football, I suppose.
See Ballyfin and Rosenalis are at it in the senior tonight, too? How come that? Ballyfin to lose, anyway.
Think Ctown will have a say in the Junior A got to div 3 final with that junior A team and alot of good young lads on it.
Got to see Trumera vs Mountrath. Mountrath looked very good overall. Well set up, moved ball well. Trumera stuck with them as best they could. Age catching up with a few.
Based off this and reports from ballypickas vs S Bloom, it will make for an interesting round 2 game.
