On a Primary school exam paper.

What four digit number when reveresed is four times the original number?

Not a very fair question. I presume they are looking for 0000, but 2178 has the same properties.
Don't know how any kid would figure that easily....

I dont know the answer, but I can tell you how to get it:

1) let x = 9999
2) reverse x to get y
3) if y <> 4x then subtract 1 from x and go back to (2)
4) QED


When you get to step (4) come back and post the answer.

Each cycle should take you about 10 seconds. The probability is that you'll have to do it 5000 times which is nearly 14 hours. Good luck.

Exactly, an absolutely stupid question to have.

I saw an old 11 plus paper recently, there were some hard questions alright.

I am amazed that you are all so mystified by an easy one like that.Lets start at the bottom

1 + 1 = 2
2 + 2 = 4

AM I GOING TOO FAST?
