Not all of them and the pass and go ones though strange to see did set up attacks and lead to a couple points.
I'd like to think a lad who plays outfield would have more cop on than to kick a ball to an Armagh man surrounded by 4 Cavan lads waiting for the break, but he did it at least 3 or 4 times in the first half, when the pattern of the game was settling down. That's terrible to see. Maybe it was under instruction, but it was very poor game management/decision making.
Don't have a problem with playing an outfield goalkeeper in goals, in fact I would be in favour of this strategy where a top class kicker isn't available. However this is something that would require work over a long period and not a decision to throw him in for his debut at 30 years of age just a few weeks before the match. Courtney has been on the panel for a few years as a midfield sub who rarely got game time but I have never heard of him being a renowned kicker of the ball or having played in goals before. That said I thought his short kick outs were pre rehearsed and at least were innovative and they worked reasonably well up to a point.
I thought it was very amusing the way he carried himself in general.
His entire demeanour screamed, "I'm too good to be in goals!"
It will be hardly be Morrison, McNeice, Geohegan or any other recognised keeper given Brendan Donaghy got more time in goals than them in the Ulster Championship

When it was announced before the game I thought Courtney was put in goal to deal with the high ball. In previous seasons we have been bad at defending high ball into the square.

Overall his longer kickouts were very poor - Cavan won a serious amount of ball off them. I would say the kickout stats were massively in Cavan's favour.

The fact that he didn't even wear gloves was possibly the oddest thing.
There was a vibe of the lad at underage stuck in goals when the regular keeper was missing who has no real interest in being there and who is determined never to get put between the sticks again.
Who are the actual recognised goalkeepers on the Armagh panel. Morrison & McNeice?
Why wasn't McNeice involved if Morrison is the no1 and injured?
As far as Im aware this move for Courtney was lined up a good month ago.

Morrison has been injured for a good while. He is a bit crazy (in a goalkeeper kind of way) so I hope if he is on the next day he does not completely follow Courtney's way! McNeice had a nightmare of nightmares with kick outs in the league against Cavan so that was probably a factor. He is the best of the lot on the shot saving side of things and I personally believe that he would have stopped the first goal. It is the kick outs that were letting him down unfortunately.

So really by McGeeney starting Courtney it gives McNeice the message that he aint up to it.
Why should he hang around if that's how he is to be treated.

Could they not do it like under 10s and have someone nobody wants on their team in goal and then a big lad doing the kickouts?
It's nonsense to say Morrisson was injured. The lad was fit to play, was picked to play his first senior championship start. The way he was treated was disgraceful. No justification to do that to the man. If he was injured they wouldn't have named him or togged him out and would have had a different sub goalie. It smacks of panic by management. Bad move.

And when the keeper hurt himself - Morrison was warming up to come on.
A crazy tactic that didn't ever look like working. McGeeney saying that his first choice keeper was injured was bullshit. He even warmed up at one stage.
All this tactic did was develop into a talking point that glosses over the real issues for Armagh. Bottom line is that Armagh are not progressing under McGeeney. To me they have good players but it's just not happening
