Title: Adele - ticketmaster in general!
Post by: Green Fields on December 04, 2015, 08:09:24 AM
This is all my wife wants for Christmas, tickets to see Adele, tried to register at her website for advanced tickets but looks like half the country did as well so not sure what my chances are this morning.  I think in all my attempts to get tickets on ticketmaster for big events I only ever managed One Direction for my kids, so here's hoping my luck will change today!

I think the secret is to be logged in and trying 15/20 mins before the advertised time... Keep refreshing your page, there are wee apps that you can run on your webpage to do this but it's probably a bit late to start worrying about that now, best of luck....

there will probably be an extra date added, if not, keep an eye on donedeal etc, there will always be some knocking around, just make sure the tickets are the real deal first though.

I managed to get tickets (4 of them). But of course I made a balls of it and got standing ones.
Wife will be 8 months pregnant at that stage so if anyone wants to swap seats for standing, let me know!

It started a 20 minute countdown I had 2 laptops never refreshed - then it spun round for 10 minutes and then all sold out - now seatwave selling them from 554 euro - hate ticketmaster!

It's a crap site alright, I had the countdown and I lost my nerve and refreshed with about 2 mins to go. It stuck in that "heavy traffic" page for about 4 mins, then offered me the tickets. Pure luck I suppose.

got 2 for the dublin gig but it was a close call. the tm site asked me to enter my card details but when i did so was informed the card was already on the system, and there was no way of selecting it. only i had another card to enter i would have lost the tickets.

anyway the wife will be happy as she really wants to see Adele!

also had a pc and laptop counting down and immediately noticed the countdown was different for both. the date/time set on the laptop was off by 5 mins and once corrected both countdowns were the same. surely the countdown should be based on the date/time on the ticketmaster server?

The face that ticketmaster when it tell you you were unsuccessful promotes this site - they must get a cut - surely that is a conflict of interest for ticketmaster?

I could kick myself. Got two standing but didnt want standing so tried to get others. It went straight to it though after i rejected the standing so all seated were completely sold out and that was at 9 minutes past 9. Load of balls. Pissed me off how it directed people to the tickets at 600 quid or more.

Am I right in saying the ticketmaster usually hold a portion of tickets until close to the date and release these to prevent ticket touting?

Ah here now, she's a powerful singer, but you couldn't listen to her droning on for 90 minutes or so!

She's no Cheryl Tweedy/Cole/Fernandez-Versini  ::)

The few songs that I know i.e. the hits, are good imo and she is a good singer. My wee lad (8 y.o.) asked me to buy him tickets for it  :-\

She's made it to 3 albums which is rare in the music industry in  this century. I guess in a world where mediocre is lauded she's top of her game.

Way too bland for my liking.

Ms Tweedy is nice to look at. No other redeeming qualities.

The venue keeps tickets back for sponsors, the promoters do the same, so you might find that you get pretty good seats in the weeks before the event if they aren't required (from my box office days).

Got great tickets for U2 from a ticketmaster outlet a mere 5 days before the Belfast gig a few weeks ago, even though it "sold out" within a few minutes.

As for Adele, like Harry Kane, she's one of our own! Tottenham born and bred!

All her songs are about some fellow that wouldn't give her a Tottenham court.

Even the artists are pissed off by these secondary sites - still can't understand how there is no conflict of interest for ticketmaster to hold back tickets and sell on their secondary site, probably for a huge commission, it's all a bit of a joke.

Exactly, unfortunately no other big act were willing to make a stand. Ticketmaster are now bigger than ever and ticket prices are through the roof.

They filed a lawsuit against Ticketmaster as they felt they held a monopoly on concert tickets and where charging exorbitant fees. the band wanted to be able to offer more affordable tickets to fans and they felt ticketmaster where restricting them from doing that.
When they tried to organise their own tour without ticketmaster they found that ticketmaster had 'allegedly'  warned off any of the venues against taking a PJ show without their involvement.

In the end the band had to give in and ended up going back to tickemaster to distribute their concert tickets, so you could say they gave in/ lost the battle.

I have been to see them several times though and even now they are always a lot cheaper to see than a lot of big stadium rock acts, Typically around £30-£35 a ticket

No Justin Bieber tickets but suspected nothing else - their sister resell site will have hundreds though at 800 euros a pop.

They realised if they continued down the path they were going they'd be finished as a band. As much as I admire their stand I'm glad they chose to let it go.

It's a real joke how ticketmaster have such a monopoly. The seatwave stuff though is mind-boggling legalised touting..
