Anyone spot the ex GAA star who was one of the people featuerd on the "quality of life" feature on Prime Time last night ?!?!

Mark O'Connor yes. Was a captain in the army in '95 as far as i know

Saw a statistic on that show, I believe it said that Ireland is the second richest nation in the world. Is this correct or was the survey skewed in a way to make it look like it is ?

this is a tricky one, if you leave out the Luxembourg's, Bermudas and other small tax havens and oil producers then GDP per capita is not far off second place

but GDP overstates things, on better measures we are probably about 9th place

In July of 2006, a survey undertaken by the Bank Of Ireland Private banking showed that, of the top 8 leading OECD nations, the Republic of Ireland was ranked the 2nd wealthiest per capita, behind Japan and ahead of the UK (Which includes Northern Ireland), US, Italy, Germany, France and Spain, showing an average wealth per head of nearly 150,000 euro(~$190,000)
