Right we have Liam óg O'Flynn, The Edge and a multitude of others who excel at a certain instrument. I saw another one tonight..Sharon Shannon. She was unreal. I've seen all three..any others ye have seen??
Johnny Fean of Horslips
Slight change of genre - but I've seen Joe Satriani play 4 times and he is without any doubt an electric guitar virtuoso. Links purely for anyone who may be interested in hearing one of the best rock guitar players of all time.

Satriani is fantastic - prefer him for more to Vai.
QuoteThe Edge
Nah. The Edge is an adequate guitar player - nothing more, nothing less.
Bill Bailey summed him up perfectly in the following youtube clip (in my opinion)

I agree with Dougal on J. Fean who is a master on guitar, mandolin and banjo.
Jean Michel Jarre
Plays here every few years, go and see him.

Yes, excellent player. Also in the same vein Don Ross (I think he might have taught McKee?)
Mark Knophler (ezcuse the butchering of his sir-name) of Dire Straits.
Andy Irvine on the bazooka!
Listen to help play benasa's green glade live at the embankment on youtube
Jimi Hendrix all day long on the guitar for me..
On an Irish level, Cathal Hayden on the fiddle. Genius

I think Benny Greb is a genius. From the greatest drum solo I've ever seen to making a Spongebob kit sound good ... he can do it all.

No need for the Germanized derivation! ;) Though agree fully.
Davy Spillane on the Uileann Pipes.
Considering the wave of emigration at present, this is a very apt tune by Cathal Hayden
Take 3 minutes and give it a listen, you wont be disapointed......

Stayed at his hotel in Dublin a couple of years ago, worst experience in a hotel in Dublin Iv ever had!! Apart from everything that went wrong in the place, when we got our car back from the concierge it had a massive dent in it, which they point blank refused to accept any responsibility for. Was furious >:( >:(!! And he muckers about with Bono
Brother in law was a chef at the Clarence some years back, was just finishing up his shift when the Edge rolled in with his entourage. Demanded the kitchen be re-opened and full meals cooked for everyone, came into the kitchen with the order himself, without even bothering to look at the menu. All meals had to be cooked from scratch, including desserts.
Sounds like a p***k to me.

Yup. That would indeed qualify him for pride of place in the pricks department and that's before you take account of the fact that he's mates with Bonio and he masquerades under such a prickish nickname
There was a documentary on last Thursday night about Finbar Fuery, that is one talented man, it was a great peice of television. I'm sure its on the RTE player.
What about James Galway? Now, there's a man with one hell of a flute! ;D
All of the above are wendies.
This man plays two guitars, at the same time and not like Page on Stairway where he switches from one to the other, but never both.
