Title: Club Websites not working
Post by: fiftyfiftyball on July 26, 2011, 06:03:14 PM
I was just wondering if any other clubs websites were not working at the minute and an error comes up trying to get on.  I run our clubs website and can't get onto the admin page either.  Was thinking maybe something happened to the company or something.  Here is the error message below.  Any help would be great.

  The webpage cannot be found
HTTP 404
   Most likely causes:
•There might be a typing error in the address.
•If you clicked on a link, it may be out of date.

   What you can try:
     Retype the address.

Go back to the previous page.

Go to  and look for the information you want.

It seems to me that you may somehow be mis-typing the URL you are looking for.
Either that or you are clicking on a link that is not coded properly. If the website (domain name) doesn't exist you would get a different error message.
Could be that you are using a CMS website that others can also access and make changes.
Maybe a page name has been inadvertently changed; eg  "fixtures.html" could have been altered to "fixture.html" or something similar.
These are just suggestions but they are the most likely causes for you getting a 404 message.

Was it one of the free hosting packages offered by the gaa. If so, they are changing the servers

those old sites were switched off last week

they should have een turned off in February but it was deferred. you should have got lots of emails about the switch over

the new websites are hosted on the google sites platform and are far easier to develop, update, and have far more features...
there is a small annual admin fee however
