Thinking about the recent thread showing Johnny Doyle had scored over 200 points in Championship (probably getting close to 250 now).
There are no shortage of stats for soccer etc ( used to have a copy of Rothmans annual myself years ago) but there are no real good sources of GAA stats. Although I remember Jerome Quinn having a good book out years ago about Ulster football.
How many current players would have over 200 points in Championship football?

Paddy Bradley
Colm Cooper

That's some goal scoring record Stevie McDonnell has
17 goals in 8 years though is it more now as that only goes to 2009
Gooch is fast on his tail though with 14 (prob a lot more now) and has probably a right few years left in him yet.
Mugsy is 4th top goal scorer in the championship
Also, amazed to read Ronan Carolan from Cavan never scored a championship goal.

He scored a cracker against Donegal in 97 in the Ulster Semi Final.

Paddy Bradley isUlster top scorer ever in championship with nearly or possibly over 20 points. Id also assume his league tally would be considerable more.
I'd also say there should be a few more Derry players in that list. For a few years Muldoon scored a considerable amount of stuff. Possibly some of the older generation too

Stats don't lie. So if you can produce the stats to back it up, then the rest of us might consider that Derry are the greatest thing ever!

Nice to have achieved that, and as a limited footballer I would be very humbled to have been able to do that, but IMO he has never did it against top players or teams in the championship. Derry have not go by the semi final in years so that means he has racked those scores against poor opposotion. In terms of the the ulster championship he would be way down the ladder because derry got beat in the semi finals every year almost. I have never seen him produce it against the top markers like the way Gooch, Mc Donnell or O' Neill. No same in that either I guess, but stats can hide the true story.

Would there be merit in a stats section on Gaaboard? All it would take is one or two people from each county to update the scores etc from that counties games and the scores by top scorers etc.
