Feb 26th Down v Armagh
Mar 13th Cork v Down
Mar 19th Down v Monaghan
Apr 2nd Dublin v Down
Apr 10th Kerry v Down
Some amount of petrol will be burned up for these games.
Couldnt get 4 tougher away ties.
It will be a great learning curve for the boys. Hopefully get enough to stay up.
Armagh wont be happy having to come to Newry for second year in a row.
Would think Armagh would be delighted to have Newry as an "away " fixture. Hop skip and jump of a trip for them and their supporters.
Yeah but After playing Down in Newry last year this game should have been set for Crossmaglen. Unless the GAA didnt think it big enough and without the Athletic grounds Newry has the capacity for it.
When were these released Snoop?

Down replace Tyrone.
Derry who are now Armagh were at home to Tyrone last year so they are away this year.
Hence Armagh's fixtures are:
Down v Armagh
Armagh v Dublin
Armagh v Kerry
Mayo v Armagh
Armagh v Monaghan
Cork v Armagh
Armagh v Galway with the order/dates of the games to be sorted out.
This system always used to work so will stick a tenner on it being correct again.
Weekends away in Mayo, Cork and Kerry. You couldnt bate that with a big stick. Dublin in Parnell Park could turn into another night away. Two of our home games are bankers, with Galway the only worry.

I got them from hogan Stand. Assume they were released this morning.
QuoteDerry who are now Armagh
In their dreams :D
Down v Armagh
Armagh v Dublin
Armagh v Kerry
Mayo v Armagh
Armagh v Monaghan
Cork v Armagh
Armagh v Galway
if correct then this isn't so bad, Armagh v Dublin and Armagh v Kerry Armagh v Monaghan would draw crowds to the home fixtures, and only two distant venues.

Great to see such confidence!
It's a tough programme, with four away games, but we did have four at home last season. The only pity is that two of our three home matches are local derbys which we would not really have minded being the other way round if it meant that the likes of the Dubs might have come to Newry. In particular, it is a little tough that we have to travel to both Cork and Kerry.
Winning those three home fixtures will be a big ask, but we may need six points out of six from them to stay up, as anything we get on the road will be a bonus. While Mayo will be fired up for the first day with a new manager, they are rebuilding and we must be in with a chance. A winning start in Newbridge last February when very few people expected it made a huge difference to our season.
Who decides on these fixtures
Away to Mayo, Cork,Kerry and Dublin - a lot of travelling there!
And the games i actually wouldn't mind being on sat night - ie: Cork and Kerry are on the Sunday whereas the local derbys eg: Armagh are on a sat night
Down being in Division one is great for us and hopefully we manage to do reasonably well, although there is some hard game for us.
Ye will probably see me in Castlebar...
