Archive footage from mayo's 4-11 to 0-05 victory over Laois in the 1936 all Ireland final. Some crowds at the game no such thing as health and safety back then.

Interesting stuff.
They had the pre-match parade after the match. Must have been no Sluddengates back then.
Looks pretty physical but I'm surprised at how much soccer type play is used and as for the handpass, it looked like they were just throwing it everywhere.
There did seem to be one classy forward who could turn a man, I wonder was it Josie Munnelly?
The sequence of events in the film all over the place.
I agree the standard seems to be a bit muck. This is a Mayo kerry match from 1939 i believe it was an All ireland semi final. Lots of ground play in it as well.

The standard does seem to get a bit better here is one from the 1949 semi final against meath the year before the double.

Mayo and Lease, watched by the crowd on Hill 60.
Sounded like Offaly were playing.
Enjoyed that- at least now i can say i've seen Laois in an All Ireland.
;D

That's rightly hilarious stuff.
