Title: Wedding Venue
Post by: JimStynes on May 09, 2010, 10:01:53 PM
Can anyone recommend some good wedding venues in the occupied six? Having a small wedding with about 40 odd people at the meal and then going to have a big 'do' that night. Its not until the summer  2012 by the way.

Depends on the general area. The Fruithill Lawn Tennis and Bowling Club in Andersonstown is a fine venue but a bit posh for those West of the Bann.

The Ceili House, Lurgan.

I suppose you'll need a band as well?

My cousin is the lead singer of the famous Captain Kennedy so i mite get a discount if they play at it.

Larchfield Estate, Hillsborough.  Absolutely gorgeous and will do whatever catering you want.  Bit pricey to hire though.  Have had a few events at it.  No licence, you can either buy it all in yourself or tell your guests to bring a carryout (buckfast brigade will love it).  Or you can get a temporary licence or get a local bar to do it.

It is class, especially in summer.

We had our work Christmas do at it.

Dunno what she has arranged regarding booze, looking forward to it as it isn't a marathon all day event. Mass at 5pm, somewhere in the Antrim Rd then Larchfield.

Looks like a nice spot alrite, mite go and have a look at it this weekend. Its 4500 odd quid to hire the venue though which i thought is very expensive. Only been around a few places so far but Canal Court and Edenmore Golf Club have been the best so far.

+1

Service in all areas of the hotel is top class.....they obviously have a v good staff training programme..
I was only ever at one wedding in it and the food was superb.....we had roast beef and it was gorgeous and plenty of it.

Another venue worth considering would be The Whistledown in Warrenpoint....not in the same price bracket as the Sliabh Donard or the Canal Court but again great service, fab food and great location.
