jaysus ye are all very funny laughing at the hurlers of old.  It's a great ould skit now isn't it?

At least if they held the hurls on the other shoulder they look like they are capable of fighting the war that needed to be fought at the time while the footballers of the saame era looked more like the Queens Uni brigade.

O'Neill could you please re-post this picture of the mighty Burt team, as it seems to have been removed from the original thread.  I can't find it elsewhere on tinternet.

Thanks

Looks like we were the second best senior hurling county in Ulster back in the 20s and 30s! I didn't realise we won our third title as "recently" as 1932 - for some reason I thought they were all pre-WW1!

And the second world war signaled the end of hurling in the county! I would be interested in finding out the reasons for the correlation! Whatever happened must have affected the rest too, otherwise why no challengers to Antrim for all those years from the 1950 onwards. Maybe the focus just changed to football all over, Donegal included.

We didn't reach our first senior football final until 1963. We've probably played in just as many Ulster hurling finals as football. Will try and tot up the numbers at some stage.
