Looking to buy a new netbook/laptop and need help!
Basic use for internet, word, downloading some music. Would like a web-cam too.
Have been looking on the usual websites, but when it comes to the details I get lost.
Have my eyes set on a Dell or Samsung.

PC world do referbished laptops and netbooks.
This is a US site but very useful for laptop recommendations
www.cnet.com
The Mrs got a Samsung NC10 , a while back and is delighted with it . All she needs is internet / Skype and storing photo's and it does the trick . Pixmania do some good deals from time to time .
All the latest deals will appear here.

The big advantage i find with this site that the comments people leave will provide you with enough information on the pro's and con's or alternatively direct you to a better deal elsewhere.

There are a few other considerations. Do you want to be really mobile or do you want a big screen. Big screen = heavier, more awkward to travel with and less battery life. Small screen is opposite but of course is more difficult to see. The laptop you selected above is a netbook and is very small, more like a extra large calculator! The other thing I'd watch is the dual processor claim. Breaking it down very simply processors of a dual nature began by being called "dual core" then came the "core 2 duo" which is much much better. The dual core you will see a lot on the cheaper laptops but if you look hard enough you will find the core 2 duo fairly cheap too and I suggest you get that.
I'd go for this one on the same site...

You can even upgrade the RAM without losing the warranty....

I think its a special offer for €250...
see

get it in black, white or pink
My daughter (13) wants a netbook for her birthday - will be using it for school, email etc. Any recommendations?
Some Dad :)
get the priorities in order,
style above function.
Yes thank you Main St. I know what she wants already. ;D But I could really use some advice on what's actually useful.
anyone know any where doing good deals on macbook?
or any advice on apple vs PC, considering going for the macbook, but the price tag is putting me off
I am using a Samsung N130 that was bought from Elara. I think it is TDB. Use it for emails and web browsing but it is not good for live streaming. Keyboard is almost if not full size.
It was 240 euro + VAT but if you know somebody who has a company you could get it without the VAT.

A comparable laptop to the cheapest 13" Macbook is the 13" Sony VAIO S11H7E for £690

The Macbook 13" is £770

The Sony has a 5hr battery compared to the Macs 7hr
The newer range of Apple laptops have the i5 processor and you have to go to the higher price range of Sony VAIO with the i5, to find a comparable model.
I'll try again!
