We have a game tomorrow? Ex player who is still involved with club, mother passed away yday, funeral sunday morning at 11.30, same time as our senior game, now the Derry CCCC have said they cannot change the day of the match, only the time, they have agreed to play it at 5.30. however, this clashes with the biggest hurling game in derry - the champ final.
have we no right to get the game cancelled??? CCCC has said that all games must be played at the same day, however round 13 which is tomorrow - 1 game of this round was played las weeks.

Personally I'm not in favour of calling off matches for removals etc., unless it's someone extremely close to the squad set up. When I pass on I'd be much happier to know that my club was playing football, the lads could swing by the funeral if they wanted the following day but if they felt the need to show respect I'd like them to go out and win the match rather than call it off. I'd say most GAA men would agree.
It seems okay to me. Yeah, you'll miss the county final, but c'est la vie. They should have a minute silence at the start of your club game.

I know ours is a close community based game and these things matter alot to people.
Nonetheless, I believe that too many fixtures are lost through deaths, etc. When I die I wouldn't want any game cancelled.
In addition, I am convinced the death rule is sometimes abused e.g. clubs scanning the obituariesa and creating tenous club links to someone that has died inorder to delay a game because a key player is missing.
I also follow motorcycling where death is an ever present possibility but it doesn't stop the racing (except in Listowell before someone corrects me) and I think the Ga should adopt the same spirit.
We can respect our dead with a minute's silence before a game but let the game go ahead.
Contact the other club, explain the situation and go back to the CCC with your agreed proosal.
