Title: O2 Broadband
Post by: Minder on August 19, 2009, 09:09:11 AM
Getting messed about by BT and thinking of switching as I am an O2 customer so get it cheaper. Read good reviews regarding their customer services. Anyone got it?

Cheers Skull, had a quick look. A bit pricey, cheapest package is £17.61 with a £46 activation fee.

I have it, nearly a year now.  It's been excellent, can't fault it.  I dont know what your speed would be like but I get unlimited downloads and speed of 16meg for tenner a month (I've o2 phone).
Set up was really quick, done in days!, and completely idiot proof.  I've never had dealings with the customer service though as I've never had a problem.

serious question...

What benefits in practice are to be gained by these speeds (eg 16mbps).

You don't say Einstein  :o  ::)

And maybe you could tell me how you actually benefit from this extra speed compared to a typical 1-2mbps link?

Downloading, watching videos etc is a lot easier and faster.
Much better for playing on xbox live also!

Easier?  ???

So if you don't do online gaming, download videos and are happy enough with streaming (whatever  ;D) on your current link speed then there's no real need to pony out for more speed?

I was hoping there was other new possibilities with more bps

Well that's where I find the benefits, that's all I use the net for as well as browsing.

If I was just doing general browsing a lower speed would be alright.  When I got broadband in the lower speed was only a couple of quid cheaper.

I was looking to get O2 broadband setup but my f*cking area isn't covered yet.  I'm in Waringstown yet Lurgan, Banbridge and Portadown all have it.
