Title: Do AC/DC play the blues?
Post by: Denn Forever on August 07, 2009, 01:30:44 PM
I'm a big fan of the Bon Scott years when they were a bluesy Rock and Roll band..  My favorites would be Ride on and Crabsody Blues.

Does the Brian Johnson fronted AC/DC play anything similar?  I'd like to like the band now but I hate Johnson's voice so what would win me over ?

None that I can think of. I must admit I dont have all the Brian Johnson albums, as I prefer the Bon Scott era. Stiff Upper Lip album was bluesier (though not as bluesy as the ones you mentioned) than those previous but I wouldn't go recommending that one. Its not that good. They've moved away from a blues sound around the time of Let There Be Rock.

Angus and the boys are great blues band when they want to be, there is videos on youtube of them jamming with the Rolling Stones from a few years ago. I bet if they wanted they could bring out a great genuinely blues album.

AC Dixies sound more up your street.   ;)

Give them a blast on Youtube.

Yup, the Hayseed Dixies are a stompin Bluegrass band who do not confine their repertoire to AC/DC songs but I'm thinking about  Angus playing some blues.  Will check out the Stiff Upper Lip album.
