Title: Brillant Scam
Post by: bingobus on June 10, 2009, 04:16:46 PM
Not sure if its an urban myth or not but brillant if true!! Seen it on another forum.....

Outside Bristol Zoo is the car park, with spaces for 150 cars and 8
coaches. It has been manned 6 days a week for 23 years by the same
charming and very polite car park attendant with the ticket machine. The
charges are £1 per car and £5 per coach.

On Monday 1 June, he did not turn up for work. Bristol Zoo management
phoned Bristol City Council to ask them to send a replacement parking
attendant.

The Council said "That car park is your responsibility." The Zoo said "The
attendant was employed by the City Council... wasn't he?" The Council said
"What attendant?"

Gone missing from his home is a man who has been taking daily the car park
fees amounting to about £400 per day for the last 23 years...!

6 day x 52 weeks x 23 years x £400/day = £2,870,400

Holy F*$k.

How would you get doing that for 23 yrs?

Did you get that from the daily Sport ?  ;)

I know of a fella in a factory in Waterford..
His wages were roughly €450/week,what he use to do every friday lunch time was raffle his wages at €2 a ticket,there was over 400 employees in the factory and everyone of them use to buy a ticket off him so he'd usually come out with over €800 a week...  :)

If he raffled them then surely someone won his wages every week, so £800 - 450 = £350 to take home!! Hardly the worlds greatest scam, unless the workers were incrediably stupid and never asked if anyone won the raffle, but kept buy a ticket from him every week anyway!!

He raffled 400 tickets at £2 each = £800. He gave his own wages of £450 as the prize meaning he was up £350 every week.

If no one ever won the raffle he would have kept his wages of €450 and kept the €800 raffle money.

Theres also the one about the fella from derry ( may be urban myth also) who had a contact at the Driving examination centre.

Apparently he charged £50 to anyone about to do their test and he would  pass their details to his contact. . He never disclosed the name of the so called examiner. If  someone failed the test he would claim that they must have got the wrong examiner and if they got a date for the retest he would pass the information on for free.
Anyone who passed was happy, anuone who failed got another go for free.

This apparently went on for years. By the law of averages with something like 66% pass first time he was on to a real winner.

Both those stories are bullshit.
The first because there is no way he could work 23 years without a sick day etc. Just couldn't happen.
The second is because LaoisLad is a notoious bullshitter on here. Added in the semingly innocuous detail that the factory was in Waterford to make it sound more authentic - a common trick of shitetalkers the world over!!!

X = Wages = €450
Y =400 tickets @ €2/ticket = €800

X+Y = €1250

Z = Prize fund = €450

€1250 - Z =  €800

So instead of taking home €450 he is taking home €800

A good friend of mine has worked 12 years, never had a sick day. Still a long way to go to make it to 23 of course.
Never going on a holiday, especially when you're earning £100k a year, would be very hard to believe. But then again maybe not too difficult to organise a replacement for when he's not there.

I totally agree!

Wait by the road with your tennis ball.  Once a car comes along throw it for Rover to fetch!

Unfortunatley Rover will only be fetching balls in doggy heaven now  :( :'(

While you will be able to invest in £750 worth of new balls for your next victim pet.

Dog insurance will pay out £750 if your dog dies.  Bound to be room for a scam there!
