Post by: Square Ball on April 12, 2009, 07:04:15 PM
Think this is a classic example of that addage.

Aye, looks like she fell from the ugly tree, and hit every branch on the way down, but she is a terrific singer.

Same oul format as the unlikely looking Paul Potts doing Pavorotti on that show. The panel look at each other raisng their eyes to the heavens-he had a fantastic voice-yer one wipes away a tear and cheesy head's jaw drops while the audience gives a standing ovation. Is so contrived. I'm sure they already heard her.

your an ole sceptic, but the point I was making was the judgement one not their reaction, which may or may not have been contrived. I thought she was going to be another in a long line of wasters, but there you go, so what did you think?

I'd heard about her before I saw the clip you put up so kind of knew what was coming. There are people with obvious mental difficulties go on that X Factor and shout and roar out a song much to the amusemnet of Simon Cowell and those other two pratts. Is very exploitive of vunerable people who think they are going to be famous. Aye yer one looked like another one of those but it goes to show you really never can tell...  8)

If she was a traditionally good looking woman, would she be getting this much interest shown in her? That said, good luck to her. Fame's a flick game, so she should milk it while she can.

I hate the way there's been such a fuss made over this woman because of the way she looks. Why should that even be taken into account?

Actually in general I really hate these f***ing talent shows and the obsessive way people follow them. The X factor is the worst but there's a different f***ing one every month. Do people never get tired of watching the same show slightly adapted again and again?!

Yes, how convenient that they had the backing track for his other song ready to go. 100% staged.

Post by: ExiledGael on April 19, 2009, 07:03:45 PM
Don't want to be seen to defend this nonsense but do you think when the wee lad changed songs and they spent 20 minutes searching for the track it would appear in the show. With editing you have no idea how convenient anythin was.
Title: Re: Never judge a book by its cover
Post by: Maguire01 on April 19, 2009, 07:24:26 PM
Of course not, it's a guess. The show is edited to death i'd imagine. It's made for 'good' TV, so adding in a bit of suspense is surely part of the game.

Hope Flatley takes it, but they wont.

There's something not right with Susan Boyle!

I think she was mightily relieved she didn't win. At once stage before the result I thought she was going to combust.

Diversity were class.  Susan Boyle is mentally unstable.  Would have liked the Flatley's to win, but not to be!!!!!!

That's because she has learning difficulties

Read earlier she's in line to make a fortune. Probably best someone different won it as the singers will make it on their own anyway. The dance groups will have some success, but not as much as Susan Boyle will have. Was disappointed Stavros Flatley wasn't in top 3. Would like to see the rankings for all 10 acts tonight to see where they were placed.

Yes read this today. She has learning difficulties from complications during her birth so people should ease up on the comments. I may have made a few myself.

Give over Tony!!  Obviously everyone should be allowed to feel better about themselves by making snide remarks about a mentally unstable 40-something!!!!

Maybe if you or a family member (god forbid) had similar problems you would think differently.

I thought she was released from one to appear in the show and is merely returning. Could be wrong.

Susan Boyle deserves enormous credit!

Just think for a minute....you go for an audition, plucked from obscurity, the world's press on your door step, preparing to go onto a stage and perform in front of a studio crowd like that, never mind the TV audience.....and perform as she did.

Nothing short of amazing.

I think it says alot about society in general, we focus on her weakneses rather than her enormous achievement.

Susan gets special treatment. Apparently she ran down the hallway after the result shouting, "I hate this show!" and was taken to the Priory for treatment. Is unfair as I ran down the hall of my own house shouting the same thing and was told to 'shut up.'

I was chatting to one of your sons at the game yesterday and he was telling me that. He told me, you were running around in your adult nappy at the time, whilst he bought the girlfriend back to meet the family.

Apparently the breaking dancing pensioner has been getting a disablity allowance, due to a war injury. He got it, because he can't walk too good.

The Department for Work and Pensions saw him on Britian's Got Talent and has suspended his allowance, pending an investigation.
