Hi everyone,
I'm currently in the process of setting up a website for my club and was wondering what you guys think are, say the top 5 best GAA websites in your county, be it club, county otherwise.
Post up links if you have some, as i just want to get a look at what features the better sites have on them.
Thanks
the Antrim website is one of the best in the county with regular updates of results league standings and also a fourm with a difference, as they give feedback from questions asked, www.antrim.gaa.ie
For me, the best club website is Fintona's. However, it's down at the moment for a re-design. It was recently recognised by the GAA for its design and content.
The poly for me
www.uujgaelic.com (http://www.uujgaelic.com)
I see Gaelic Life's website www.gaeliclife.com has a list of club websites in Ulster.
i would have to agree with milltown, antrim website is one of the best about, a credit to the boys who set it up.
try out ours, rasharkingac.ie
http://www.odwyersgaa.com
here is the website that I developed for my club
I have a question
why do you think that you are the one person on the board that should be called itgeek- quantify your geekiness for us so that the board can decide
http://cavan.handball.gaa.ie
This site was only set up in the past week or so, can anybody suggest other features we can easily add?
Good man whatever, I can see your clubhouse out my window at work (well almost). Nice site.
My own site, as mentioned by Ziggysego, is under redevlopement. I'm wondering what engine to use to run the backend at the moment, my main concern for the frontend is accessibility and using a tableless layout as far as possible.
From those mentioned, the Antrim county site is an excellent job, the UUJ website is also good but like the Tyrone county website there is something I don't like about the use of Flash for flash's sake. The St.Enda's website looks good in IE, but in Firefox it looks ugly and breaks badly on some parts - IMHO any website nowadays designed should look as close to as possible the same in IE, Firefox and Opera. I haven't a Mac to test on Safari though, but the first three should cover around 98-99% of your visitors minimum.
Some of my main picks would include...
www.ardboegfc.com
www.ballyholland.org
www.desertmartingac.com
www.ahoghillgac.com
www.carndonaghgaa.com
I agree with Fionntamhnach about using Flash for Flash sake. Most of that stuff can be done using gif.
I think flash is a bit too much.
Its been said hundreds of times before but its all about the content really!
Photo Gallery and up to date news is mostly what people want!
Our own( http://www.steelstown.ie )hasn't a flashy design but it serves its purpose as good as any other
http://www.castleknock.net/ and a few of the dublin clubs have excellent websites
