Just has a look at RTE 2 and they are showing coverage of todays match from 2-10 till 7-30. Prior to that there is a program about the history of the all blacks for 1 hour. Now I am not a rugby fan but isn't this effectively a challenge game? What justification can there be for over 5 hours coverage of a game that doesn't even last 90 minutes?
i'd say it has something to do with playing the all blacks in croke park to a full house!
They're also showing Scotland v South Africa as well. And while technically it is a "challenge" game, the Autumn Internationals are taken much more seriously in Rugby than their soccer counterparts, or indeed challenge games in GAA.
To be honest, TV companies can't win, whatever they do there'll be people complaining that they favour one sport over the other. The people I have pity for is the large percentage of the population who don't like sport - the weekends must do their heads in!
Then again, I suppose its their own fault for being wierdos...............

It's a test match which isn't the same as a friendly in football. Tests are considered competitive fixtures in rugby and cricket even though they are not part of a larger tournament.
Well I'm normally a rugby fan, but would dip in and out of games. However I'm looking forward to tonight's game.
I wasn't aware that they were showing a 2nd game. Thats not so bad then. Point taken about non sports fans - after the rugby there is the premiership highlights program and thats followed by Live boxing.
