Where did this latest craze come from?
Just watched a video taken up at Craigavon Tesco store today and its crazy the amount of people there and fighting over stuff they don't need. The world is going clean mad.
my sentiments exactly, hoards of people fighting over goods they don't really need. A Chromecast from currys for £20 without the hassle of queuing up, i'll take that!
They have Black Friday in Ireland now? WTF??

America. It's a traditional shopping day in the states (the day after Thanksgiving). It's like our old 8th of December. It's when the Christmas Rush starts.

We've had it online now in places like amazon and the big online retailers for a few years, and now the supermarkets like asda and tesco have jumped on the band wagon as well.
Ive heard about some crazy scenes, people fighting over goods in asda and stuff.
never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups
Are there actually bargains to be had or is it just stores getting rid of old stock to stupid people?

No and Yes.
There are some, but genrally they will only have a few of each item in every store, so unless youa re camped out waiting to get in first you have no chance of getting the really good deals advertised.
I seen a store in belfast had 50" panasonice tvs for £249, but only had 3 of them instore, its not that far out of the way on my way to work so i called past, at about 8.30, and there was a que of 12-15 people already outside and the store didnt open to 9.30.
Needless to say i didnt wait about!

A fella on the news this morning said he queued 6 hours to save 70 quid on a tv :-[
A couple of years ago a friend of mine told me about how much he saved when he gave up smoking. I thought that sounds great so I took up smoking so I could give it up and save too.
Crazy shit, i make an appearance in one of the Craigavon videos trying to do a days work. ::)
The Craigies never let you down.
Crazy stuff people are very stupid!! This shit didn't exist 3 years ago why are people taking it so seriously now??

Marketing ploy from America started by Asda/Amazon to boost sales and kickstart Christmas.

Such as ??
Grown men and women physically fighting and screaming obscenities at each other. Really absurd and nauseating

That and reality TV. Reminds me of the film Idiocracy.

Pokertrees treacle stout will be the only thing making today a Black Friday for me.
Some of the scenes are mental. How cheap were these things going for? It looked like people were looting.
Some of these imbeciles deserve to get trampled on.
Whatever about Black Friday, I intend having a very black Saturday and an even blacker Sunday morning!!!

Once you go black you never go back.....
Pretty pathetic. Imagine getting arrested for a few quid off a toaster. I wonder if tesco told these folks to jump off a cliff they'd fight each other for the chance.
Might head down next year with a beer and a deck chair and watch the madness.

Great idea.
Put Maurice Pratt one side of you and say Eddie Hobbs or Twink the other and you could do a reality consumerism podcast for the rest of us. It could be the next big thing!
It was the big-inch tv's causing the rumpus. Two people can claim it as it's too big for one.
And now that it's here, Black Friday is never going away.
More Cultural infiltration from Corporate America, swallowed hook line and sinker by idiotic Irish
That was a quare eye opener.
If things ever went tits-up on the planet.....
No, the dentist.
Imagine the riots when people realise how much we're overcharged the rest of the year.....
It's a quare social experiment. One ITV hack asked a queuer what she was queuing up for and she hadn't a notion.

The scenes in Fermanagh and West Belfast were saddening.
The south of Ireland we know has always been obsessed with the pursuit of money or the annoyance of someone having more money than them.
Unfortunately we're not far behind now. Bring back the ra.
I just don't see why people get so whipped up in to a frenzy about this. It's not like you couldn't get a bargain tv any other time of the year online or in the sales in January.
There wasn't a Black Friday a few years ago in the UK and Ireland and for some reason not only do we get the cheap goods but the irrational behaviour to go with it. Monkeys see & monkeys do I guess.

It's best you don't read any of my posts again, including this one.
