Form line.......Kildare played well and beat a Limercik side that had Cork up a stick and should have won...

Cork  have played well for 1 half off football, very impressive half mind, did Kerry implode though?

We have nothing to fear, we could you know  :o

slow corner back

Cork will see you off in a match similar to the cork sligo match of last year, ie unwatchable

Still not sure what happened in the second half and why Kerry were not able to respond. The second half performace by Cork in many ways masked the terrible first half and the fact that Counihan got the team selection and tactics totally wrong. He had no option for the second half but to put Cussen in at full forward and put Pierce O'Neill at midfield. It worked very well but not convinced that the same tactics would work so well again and they would need to bring some otherdimension to their game. However the confidence of the win over Kerry cannot be under estimated and Cork will feel that they are in with a shout of the AI. On the down side they have not had a game for 5 or 6 weeks while Kildare are on a bit of a roll though not overly impressive.

WIth a big Cork crowd there and if Cork play a bit more direct than the last few years I think they should win but with this Cork team nothing would surprise me.

Not if us Tyronnies have anything to do with it, we owe you!  ;)

Think you'll be under serious pressure against the Rebels, however, can't see Kildare coming out of this one.
Carlsberg don't do Gombeenocracies, but by jaysus if they did...

Nothing new there, the same was said about Limerick and Fermanagh. No pressure on Kildare, CP hoodoo off our back, Cork massive favs, ripe for a shock....

True, the absence of a shock result would be a shock at this stage with the Lilywhites.

On the face of it Cork will be strong favourites .Still Kildare are improving and need to improve big time on the first half performance today .If they give Cork the chances they gave Fermanagh they will be well beaten .

Zulu

I think Cork will win this by 3-4 points but be much the better team. Kildare's workrate and defensive nature will keep the score down but Cork will dominate and be much the better team. IMO Cork are one of the best teams in the country and will prove this in the next 2-3 years by winning an AI.

Kildare owe Cork big time for stealing their best players over the years.

Heard on KFM by the missus. The Kildare County Board have formally
requested a postponement of the Quarter Final versus Cork. Reason being
that if it goes ahead as scheduled (to suit the Cork FANS), it will be Kildare's
FOURTH game in 20 days or so. Only Tyrone would have matched this had their
match gone ahead next weekend, but as theirs versus the Dubs has been
pushed to Sat August 14th, they get an extra week's recovery.

Full marks to the County Board for pushing the welfare of OUR PLAYERS
ahead of the CORK FANS

Ya Frank Murphy spent months riding around in the back of a Hiace van in Kildare with blacked out windows with a giant butterfly net waiting to capture Tompkins and Fahy.
Tompkins was treated like dogsh1t by the Kildare CB at the time. Dont know the background in Fahy's case other than he was lving and working and playing football in Cork city at the time.

Cork would want to be winning this one rather handily if they have any notions of beating Kerry in the semi.

It was about the money with Larry, he didn't move to Cork for the good of his health. Fahy was in the army and was stationed in Kildare, he could have played his county football with Kildare like many guys working in Dublin from the country have often done.

People aren't learning very well, expect another low scoring affair, Cork do not have the forwards to rack up a big score in Croke Park.

daneil goulding, james masters, fintan gould and donncha o connor may beg to differ. cork won the u21 all -ireland recently with some very good forwards and if they start the above 4 kildare will have their work cut out. they can match kildare at midfield too. John Doyle will have to have another one of those games to give kildare a chance. andrew smith is a good player too but they need more help.

Tompkins came to Cork for work end of story. If you think the CCB paid him a penny or the Castlehaven crew had money to be throwing around you are deluded. Kildare cb wouldnt pay for a flight home from America at the timeand threated him like dirt. Fahy was stationed in Cork City playing with Nemo Rangers. Cork have more than enough firepower to beat Kildare. Wether they play up to there ability is a completely different matter as they are hopelessly inconsisent.

I firmly believe that Cork are alot better than most posters here give them credit for.
Their back are very good, their diamond around the middle is excellent and while they lack top class forwards they do have decent forwards.
I would expect Cork to dominate possession and win with a fair bit to spare.
