Interesting documentary coming up on how sport in the north was affected by the troubles. It takes a good GAA angle with contributions from:

Vincent McAnespie
Des Fahy, Author of 'Death on a Country Road' and 'How the GAA survived the Troubles.'
Kevin Devlin, brother of Gerry Devlin (who was murdered locking up St Enda's)
Niall Murphy, of St Enda's (most attacked GAA club in the world.)

Sports and politics enthusiasts will not want to miss out on Newstalk 106-108 fm's Saturday evening documentary The Trouble with Sport which will be aired from 6.00pm – 7.00pm on Saturday 19th July.

This documentary deals with the topic of sport and the troubles in Northern Ireland and will focus mainly on rugby, soccer and Gaelic games.

In a rare interview, Neil Lennon speaks openly about the sectarian abuse that he suffered whist playing Northern Ireland. He also speaks of the death threat that ultimately ended his international career and prevented him from lining out as captain of Northern Ireland.

Esteemed former Irish Times rugby correspondent Ned Van Esbeck speaks of how rugby was challenged by the troubles in Northern Ireland while former Irish International Nigel Carr also speaks of the bomb blast the ended his international career.

Gaelic games have also experienced its fair share of hard times. Vincent McAnespie, brother of the murdered Aidan McAnespie speaks of how his brother was killed by the British Army on his way to watch a Gaelic football match. Member of the St Enda's club in North Belfast also speak of the death and destruction their club has faced during the troubles.
